CBs Not To Blame

I here people talking crap about our corners. I think our corners are descent. But when you have no pass rush it will expose your corners. And we have not pass rush thus far in the season. No pass rush equals losses to such teams as Giants, Min, Atl, NO, CB, GB, Baltimore, and Seattle.

While I agree that a good pass rush really helps the corners, I don't think our poor secondary play was a result of the pass rush.

Rather, I think most of the big plays given up were a result of individual execution. Players being out of position, players falling down (Gamble), safeties not coming over the top when they needed to -- that sort of thing.

I do think our secondary is good and they'll show that in the next game, but they are a big reason we lost last week.

eh, we haven't had a pass rush for a couple years now. Sure, a few games sprinkled in by Peppers but we have beaten most of those teams before.

The Captain would disagree with you :gnorsi:

“We felt like we let the team down -- me, Rich (Richard Marshall) and Gam (Chris Gamble),” said Munnerlyn, the team's nickel back. “We could have won a game. That game was on us.

“Our secondary coach told us that if the back seven stopped those guys we would win a game. We fell a little short. But we told the rest of the guys they don’t have to worry about this week's game (against Tampa Bay). We’re going to come with our ‘A’ game.”

yeah, our defensive tackles weren't living up to all the hype. didn't see any pressure up the middle, cept for Dan Connor's sack, but that was from the MLB position... and their run stuffing just disappeared completely. Ahmad Bradshaw ran all over us. and when Jacobs got stopped the few times he did, it was because of Beason and Connor coming through the gaps left by the defensive line. which is how it's supposed to go down, but i didn't see any run stoppin' by the front four really. maybe by charles johnson and greg hardy. that's about it.

Why was the Captain on Nicks for 2tds? We have Gamble, Marshall at the CB's, Sherrod Martin at the Free and Godfrey at the Strong. Was he in for Nickel packages? I just dont understand why he would be put in those positions, especially after getting embarrassed by Nicks
