Why 2010 Means Nothing to the Carolina Panthers (no smack)

Swash,

I see you haven't got your pie yet either. Darn shame.

Just 3 slices so far.... but no one ever said that the path to greatness was an easy one! I'd say I've stood up to the barrage of butt pirate jokes rather well. Win or lose on Sunday, I've got a nice little spot with my name on here and that's all I wanted. I think Panther fan knows that this is the last year he can reasonably expect to beat us.

They think it's bad NOW.......

He stinks of denial? I don't see you coming up with any counter arguments against his points! Lemme ask you something..... what's your team going to be like NEXT year?

Who will be your QB?

Who are you going to throw to other than Steve Smith? The greatness that is the mighty Dwayne Jarret and Brandon LaFell?

Are you gonna be able to re-sign your boy DeAngelo Williams, or have to leave Stewart on his own?

Think Beason's gonna want a big ass pay day after next year?

I'm sensing a pattern here..... might it be time for some change in Carolina? Something along the lines of "hang onto what is useful and change the rest"?

What plans do the Panthers have right now in their future that's going to make them a better team next year than this year?

My Bucs made the conscious decision to build a younger team by taking full advantage of one the deepest drafts in recent memory. Will we struggle? Maybe.... will we be a better next year because of these decisions? Oh HELL yes!

Soup is waiting for his pie and bacon!

See, heres the deal. I will explain again. I, like most here dont give a damn about you people or the sorry ass team you pull for. I dont feel the need to prove anything about the Panthers. They will do that sunday. You and anyone else can say, lie, make up, quote whatever the hell you want about your team to make yourself feel better. Dont confuse me with someone who enjoys spirited conversation with an opposing teams fan about stats, past records, scheduling, players etc. I wouldnt discuss sh*t with you. Its pointless. The result of the game on Sunday is the only point to be accepted by both sides. So dont be offended when i could care less about what you people post on OUR board.

When you're recovering from the retirement home that used to be One Buc Place, you're going to take some lumps. Tampa flushed out all the bullcrap remaining from the Gruden/Allen era and left only the parts that worked. The only thing remaining that is questionable is Sabby Piscatelli, and he's not even a starter and is back on special teams.

The deal is with your franchise, is you NEED to rebuild around that running game. You need a front office sweep. Name one thing Carolina has ever done dominately enough to win a Super Bowl? Nothing. John Fox has been blowing the whistle on the mediocrity train there for far too long. Tampa did the exact same thing as Carolina since winning the Super Bowl. But the difference is, we discovered it and took care of it and are starting brand new but in a similar mold.

This Sunday shouldn't matter whatsoever to you. Because the sad fact that is burning in the back of your mind is you won't do anything this year. Or next year. Or the year after that. Because you'll still be sitting at a traffic light with Fox driving the car while other teams are driving right past you.

The prime years of DeAngelo and Stewart (the only two players you have to look forward to) are going to be wasted while you're sitting there doing nothing.

With a new regime comes new change. Carolina's regime doesn't work at all. But they're still there, while precious minutes on a short shelf life position drip away like wax on a candle.

The way you should see it, is that Tampa is AT LEAST two years ahead of you. You'll be scratching your head at who is coming in next to lead your little pity party in Carolina next year. Then they'll purge the roster AGAIN after you lost a lot of veteran experience this very year.

All the while you're doing that we'll be adding the handful of pieces we need to make this team a complete foundation, while your guys are dropping magnets off the white board the 2010 Panthers depth chart was on.

Matt Moore is the future huh? What about Clausen? No? Maybe? Well while you're finding that out in 2011, our guy will be in his third year. With our bright shiny receivers you wish you had and a brand new runningback acquired from the April Event, extra O-Line reinforcement, and pass rush.

Whatever era you had is done. Enjoy the scrap heap for a while. Have fun sitting in pit row, while everyone else is on the track.

See here's the thing fugstick. The Panthers are already younger than the Tampa Bay Paddle Boat rowers.

Avg Age

31 Tampa Bay Bucs 25.10

32 Carolina Panthers 25.00

So your point on rebuilding is moot.

Secondly you have no room to talk about player name notoriety. Your team is the epitome of irrelevancy at almost every position. The only reason people know Freeman is because he is one of a hand full of black quarterbacks (to bad he's horrible) and Cadillac because of his college career.

Your defense is even less noteworthy, the only household name is Barber and he's incredibly overrated. Enjoy watching him get pounded into the turf by stiff arms all day. So your comments on our seconday having no names is completely ridiculous and reeks of your own insecurities of your own team (you'll know every player on our defense after this Sunday I promise)

I also would like to know where you get the assumption that Fox will be here after this year anyhow? The general consensus is that the odds of this happening are slim to none. So sorry to ruin your little circle jerk homer fest hoping that Fox will be around for years to validate your pathetic post but it's wrong.

See the problem with being a homer is that you only really know your own team, you really have no clue as to how this team is run or it's roster depth so run along back to your sinking state and wallow in self loathing with the rest of your sweaty northern transplant buddies.

Because it is discussing how we are in a rebuilding year and how the Bucs are ahead of us in that area. It is a grey area but it is a worthy post. I want to see where it goes as I think it could be a great thread.

You're right. These comments are not incendiary in the least:

So what are you even doing in here if all you're gonna do is point out to the score on Sunday? I wasn't expecting you to care about what we have to say, but I surely didn't expect you to take such an easy way out. I guess I should expect a massive "TOLDJA SO!1!11!!!!" from you if the Panthers win. What should I expect if you lose? Will you come here and swallow your pride and admit defeat or hide away?

If you all win I will come back and admit you won. I will take your smack as you all see them fit and let you bask in the well earned glow of victory. I have no problem with that, I'm not a prideful man... just someone who loves his Bucs no matter how well they do and someone who enjoys a good slice of pie.

Then I'll come back in November... and we're gonna do this ALLLLLL OVER AGAIN!

Hate to tell you this, but we've already done that and will continue to do that as contracts expire. Really, folks.

That's good to know, I highly commend your management for doing as such. A team on the rise is the best kind of team. Call me nuts but those kinds of transitions in leadership, purging rosters have their biggest effect on the field.

i agree about to an extent about what the OP said, but i disagree with the bucs being ahead in any way of the panthers. squirrel hit the nail on the head when he said that we can rebuild and still win games.

funny, i'm looking at the bucs two or three years down the road and realizing that raheem morris should neer have been given an HC job and that freeman isn't an NFL starting caliber QB who was drafted by a coahc who should never have had the job n the first place.

sorry if that sounds like smack but it is as honest an assessment as the OP was about this team.

the panthers has done essentially what the new regime will do, just ahead of schedule. In addition to that, they will have eliminated all dead cap space and made more cap room available than any except for three teams in the league. the team is young enough to groom for any coach and has just enough of the right core players to build around. the new coach/regime will have two or three young QBs to choose from and all the essential elements in place to get them winning games right away.

their rebuild/coaching change or whatever will have them looking much more like the jets or than the bucs after the first year.

Then please by all means help me understand how the Bucs are a team on the rise? If you can do that for me, then I will gladly back down and not engage in anymore discussion.
