Why 2010 Means Nothing to the Carolina Panthers (no smack)

child please......more structure? Radio stumbled into last season firing coaches at kickoff of week 1 practically. Beating the Browns has gone to your head.

Gosh you know what? Maybe you're right.

I guess a franchise QB, having 3 great RBs plus Earnest Graham, a rebuilt WR corps, a stud TE, and rebuilt defensive line in just 2 seasons surely isn't anything to brag about isn't it? Of course we are going to struggle for a while, it's what happens when you do a complete overhaul.

That being said... we just did a complete overhaul. Remember that one game where you all BARELY won against an 0-5 Bucs team in the midst of playing its worst football with a backup QB, a makeshift WR corps and no defensive line? And remember how you had to do it by rushing for 260 yards because your passing game could only put up 65 yards?

Child please!!

That's pure conjecture.

1. While likely, Fox may not be out the door. It really depends on what happens this year. If we finish 8-8 or better, he'll be here.

2. Even if we replace Fox, the replacement may have the same offensive and/or defensive schemes. West Coast offenses have gotten prominence in recent years, but the league is trying to clamp down on pass-first offenses some (moving a ref from behind the D-line to behind the O-line to watch for holding for example). The point is, we're not automatically going to bring in a Tony Dungy to replace Fox.

Fox won't be here with an 8-8 record. Richardson wouldn't have told him to go find a new job last offseason. Richardson is allowing Fox one last year b/c of the CBA questions. If there is a lockout, Jerry will be one of the guys that is a big reason for it occuring.

Why the hell do people keep referring to Josh Freeman as a franchise quarterback. What has he done to deserve that moniker? Is it his negative turnover differential? Draft position? The fact that Chris Simms and Jeff Garcia were the best Bucs quarterbacks in recent memory? It must be these continued assertions that he survived a bunch of adversity or whatever. Sadly he's not the only one in the league or even the NFC South to deal with such things.

Hell if you're going on raw metrics Matt Moore has more potential to be a "franchise quarterback" than Josh Freeman.

We're not going by the numbers or any meaningless stats you can throw out. We're going by how new the player is. Because Freeman and the rest of the Bucs are new to their team and have had a year or so of rebuilding, they are instantly better.

the conclusion i'm drawing from all this is that if the panthers DO suck this bad, then a tampa bay victory by anything less than 14 points should indicate utter failure. and if the panthers WIN... all of your carefully crafted points are shot completely to hell.

now go choke yourself.

This is how far the Bucs have fallen. Their supposed franchise quarterback had a passer rating of 59 last year good for 30th in the league.

These supposed great running backs were all at the bottom last year. Cadillac was 30th, Ward was 52nd and the other guys didn't even make the list. Rebuilt is a nice term for saying totally unproven and young which applies to your wide receivers and defensive line.

And then you seriously make fun of our passing game because we ran for 260 yards? How ignorant is that?? Why would you pass the ball when you can run at will.

Even a child knows that!!

We consider him franchise material due to the fact that we are building a team around him. We are investing in him being a long time qb for the team. We arent going out and drafting a high end qb to compete with him. We went out and got him some wrs to throw to. We traded for a solid TE. The o-line is good, now the receivers are good. We have Caddy back running the ball. On the offensive side of the ball, it is set up to do really well. All Freeman needs to time to build report with his teammates. A qb is not going to be great in the first 2 years. Even Peyton struggled his first 2 years. Its how you treat him and how you allow him to grow that determines if he is a franchise player or not. Moore is nothing more than a fill in until they think Clausen is right for the job. Carolina isnt building a team around him, instead is grooming his backup to take over.

Yeah that's an interesting way to spin the ground performance in that game. Case in point: the final drive. The Bucs knew exactly what was coming but they couldn't stop it to save their lives. How is that bad? That's our philosophy in the first place (most of the time in light of last week at least).

How can you give Freeman a couple years to prove himself, but you're so quick to write off Moore who has started what, nine games in this league?

I hate to tell you, but just "investing in" a player does not make them a franchise quarterback. The Raiders invested quite a bit in JaMarcus Russell. How'd that work out for them?

child, please.....you commented about the great structure under Radio. That was retarded. Last offseason he didn't know his head from his foot.

You don't have a franchise QB. You have someone you hope will turn into one. Big difference.

You don't have 3 great RBs.

and yeah, we all know Stewart and Williams run through Tampa like a wet paperbag.
