Why 2010 Means Nothing to the Carolina Panthers (no smack)

You're right. It'll probably be a game of field goals to be honest.

And the lot of you seriously expect that to formula work again after we've spent an entire offseason gutting all the CRAP out our defensive line? The lot of you are harping about a game you all nearly lost despite your success in the run game. And you all cite it as a reason why I should be worried. If we make ANY stop on you guys that game and the Panthers lose that game to a team that was 0-5 and was playing its worst football.

And here you all are calling us the idiots.

Good call and i don't believe we ever said we would destroy you .. just that we would win. Since we run the exact same defense Tampa 2 / Cover 2 style .. its very safe to say that Carolina fans could track your progress thereself.

That also says that we are running against exactly what we do at practice. Also says since our guys are faster than your guys ( on defense ) Our running game has an advantage , slim but still an advantage. Last its only a matter of time before you try to get cute to make up for speed loss .. thats where you see your screens , slants , and end arounds ( see 2005 ).

In conclusion whoever makes the most mistakes loses. Heres to watching the college spring game / Fanfest Defense on Sunday.

When you're recovering from the retirement home that used to be One Buc Place, you're going to take some lumps. Tampa flushed out all the bullcrap remaining from the Gruden/Allen era and left only the parts that worked. The only thing remaining that is questionable is Sabby Piscatelli, and he's not even a starter and is back on special teams.

The deal is with your franchise, is you NEED to rebuild around that running game. You need a front office sweep. Name one thing Carolina has ever done dominately enough to win a Super Bowl? Nothing. John Fox has been blowing the whistle on the mediocrity train there for far too long. Tampa did the exact same thing as Carolina since winning the Super Bowl. But the difference is, we discovered it and took care of it and are starting brand new but in a similar mold.

This Sunday shouldn't matter whatsoever to you. Because the sad fact that is burning in the back of your mind is you won't do anything this year. Or next year. Or the year after that. Because you'll still be sitting at a traffic light with Fox driving the car while other teams are driving right past you.

The prime years of DeAngelo and Stewart (the only two players you have to look forward to) are going to be wasted while you're sitting there doing nothing.

With a new regime comes new change. Carolina's regime doesn't work at all. But they're still there, while precious minutes on a short shelf life position drip away like wax on a candle.

The way you should see it, is that Tampa is AT LEAST two years ahead of you. You'll be scratching your head at who is coming in next to lead your little pity party in Carolina next year. Then they'll purge the roster AGAIN after you lost a lot of veteran experience this very year.

All the while you're doing that we'll be adding the handful of pieces we need to make this team a complete foundation, while your guys are dropping magnets off the white board the 2010 Panthers depth chart was on.

Matt Moore is the future huh? What about Clausen? No? Maybe? Well while you're finding that out in 2011, our guy will be in his third year. With our bright shiny receivers you wish you had and a brand new runningback acquired from the April Event, extra O-Line reinforcement, and pass rush.

Whatever era you had is done. Enjoy the scrap heap for a while. Have fun sitting in pit row, while everyone else is on the track.

Your team is owned by the Glazers and coached by Radio Raheem.

We're fine, thanks.

Up until the talk about a two year head start on rebuilding... the OP has a point. I hate to say this about anything a Bucs fan would say... but I'm not really able to poke holes in what he said.

We'll find out Sunday if his "head start" is enough though. Cause we didn't dump all our talent, and the Bucs still have a way to go.

The two year headstart comes from the fact that John Fox WILL NOT be your coach next year. And philosophy changes are crippling. Your defense may turn into a 3-4, offense philosophy may change. And then your roster will be gutted again.

I think maybe I'm done with this thread. No team can be completely written off or written in after the first game of the season, especially after just barely beating the Browns. Let's see what happens Sunday, and I hope you guys hang around if the Panthers win.

It's a great rivalry looking forward to some good smashmouth football, I hope it is a competitive game GO BUCS !!

So basically you do as much as you can to offer as little insight as possible and to contribute as little as possible? Smack is about making a point and backing it up, not swooping in, trolling and saying "I don't care what you have to say bro! I LIVE FOR THIS!" Put down the pom poms or start smacking.

Im not gonna change your opinion regardless of how right I may be. Thats why its pointless to act like the all knowing and throw hollow stats and figures around. Quit taking yourself so serious, youre just another lame ass troll.

See, this is what I'm talking about. I present a big argument that requires ACTUAL THOUGHT and all i get are "well we're still winning games" and little pithy comments about The Observer.

Ball up, and actually make yourselves look intelligent for a change.

Or is there going to be nothing but, "I am rubber, you are glue" or "I know you are but what am I", replies to this?

Weak. You just failed at being a fan.

So being a fans means you can change the team and the product that's on the field? That is too funny. You sound like an owner that is trying to blame everybody but himself for driving the team into the ground. Maybe you should wait until your team is winning again before you cast stones at others.

You say philosophy changes are crippling, and yet you also talk about how bad of a coach Fox is. So again I ask, why is it absurd to think the Panthers could improve with a different coach, especially given the core players the Panthers have and the fact that many teams in recent years have benefitted immediately following a coaching change?

I don't think a new coach would be tempted to cut players like Smith, Williams, Stewart, Gross, Kalil, Beason, etc. That's ultimately the difference between this Panthers team and the Bucs team of two years ago -- we would be crazy to dismantle our entire team, while the Bucs would've been crazy not to.

We are already the youngest team in the league. You really think a coach is going to try to go younger?

seriously though, I'm not going to read this entire thread, because the first few pages were just one prolonged dick measuring contest.

"oh the bucs are better cause we started rebuilding 5 years ago!"

"Shenanigans, you guys are teh suck and will always be teh suck. we got rid of delhomme so we will win everything now!"

"wrong! the bucs will hop on freeman's back and fly to the moon!"

"NO! Matt Moore/Jimmy Clausen is/are the next jesus and pals."

everyone, please, shut the hell up.

They are just trying to get a rise out of you and it's working.

My opinion? Seems to me like the panthers have a better core group of young talent than the bucs do. does this mean we are better? no, because no team is better than it's weakest link. both teams have some pretty weak links. if i were a betting man, and i'm not, i'd say that the panthers will probably come out ahead before the bucs do, simply because whoever inherits the next coaching job here is getting a pretty solid gig. Bucs, I'm not so sure on. I'm not a fan so i don't know completely, but from what i've seen, they aren't in the same shape the panthers are, $ and FO-wise.

to end the argument i will say that the panthers are better on madden, so obviously, the panthers win the dick measuring contest, 3 and a half inches to 3 inches.

So doing nothing but swinging pom poms makes you more right than I am? My Lord at least TRY to back yourself up.

It's too bad that Radio managed to build a team with more structure in 2 off seasons than you all have as a team right now.

Have you given Soup his bacon yet?

child please......more structure? Radio stumbled into last season firing coaches at kickoff of week 1 practically. Beating the Browns has gone to your head.

I believe I've already explained that Tampa did no better than Carolina, so you can't hold that against me (once again you fail at making an argument)

Our GM decided to load us down with aging veterans and draft like crap. There it's out in the open, you can't use that against Bucs fans. It's no secret.

The reason teams play football is to contend for a Super Bowl. You can't honestly say, even if Carolina got to a Super Bowl that you had a snowballs chance in hell against Pittsburgh.

We stumbled into the playoffs because the NFC South has been cake until last year. And that's the same reason you guys stumbled into the playoffs too.

What exactly does your team have to build on? What's there? You got a running game, yes. But who's throwing the ball? Who's catching the ball other than Steve Smith? Dwayne Jarrett!?!?

Who exactly is in your secondary? Noone can name anyone past Chris Gamble, and he sucks.

Your team has issues and nothings being done about them.

Deny, deny, deny.

Wow. You say no smack but that is all I have read from you so far.

Go ahead and hang your franchise on Josh Freeman, at least we have Clausen if Moore fails. Who are you looking at in the draft next year to replace Josh?
