Why 2010 Means Nothing to the Carolina Panthers (no smack)

I think you are going to see all kinds of pressure on Freeman this Sunday. The line didn't do much against New York, but we've got some young pass rushers who showed they were capable in the preseason.

You guys got outrushed, out passed, out played last week. This was the same team you beat week 15 last season and ran up 260 yards plus against. You guys didnt pressure him, didnt stop their run game, didnt do squat. So unless Eli and company just became SB calibur team in a few games or you guys took a nose dive at the key positions. You guys only got 62 yards for Williams and 12 for Stewart. So either you guys have forgot how to tackle and block or you guys were playing possum. I just don't see how in one week you can fix all of that. You guys havent shown any offensive power since the end of last season. Nothing in the preseason and nothing last week. Yeah I think the Bucs have a great shot at winning this if Carolina continues to play like they did last week.

Right, I forgot that the Bucs were the only team that you could see improved greatly after one win.

Did you see how rarely we ran the ball, by the way? Our playcalling was atrocious in that game -- not the play of our running backs.

Up until the talk about a two year head start on rebuilding... the OP has a point. I hate to say this about anything a Bucs fan would say... but I'm not really able to poke holes in what he said.

We'll find out Sunday if his "head start" is enough though. Cause we didn't dump all our talent, and the Bucs still have a way to go.

Both Jacobs and Bradshaw were injured all last year. If I'm not mistaken, Bradshaw had 2 or 3 surgeries by himself in the off-season. I think their OL was in shambles as well last year.

And again, if you watched the game, you would've known that we were 3 throws away from 18 more points. That's a totally different game. I bet you Moore doesn't throw 3 picks this Sunday, so give us those points...

You guys can keep talking, but you couldn't beat us with Jake at QB the last few years, and you barely beat him with a far less talented Browns team. He gave you a touchdown before halftime... They run that clock out and that's a different game. Really? You guys are ready to yap after that?

Then please by all means help me understand how the Bucs are a team on the rise? If you can do that for me, then I will gladly back down and not engage in anymore discussion.

Let me count the ways, Arrelious benn, Sammy Stroughter,Mike Williams,Micheal Spurlock and oh' I almost forgot Gerald McCoy and Brian Price

Its not a hard formula .. ill break it down .. Run,Run,Run,Run,Run,Play-Action,Run, Screen to smith , Deep to smith .. Run some more .. It's not like we do any special passing anyway .. we've never had a problem throwing smith a short ball and letting him go. This game comes down to our defense alone.

You're right. It'll probably be a game of field goals to be honest.

And the lot of you seriously expect that to formula work again after we've spent an entire offseason gutting all the CRAP out our defensive line? The lot of you are harping about a game you all nearly lost despite your success in the run game. And you all cite it as a reason why I should be worried. If we make ANY stop on you guys that game and the Panthers lose that game to a team that was 0-5 and was playing its worst football.

And here you all are calling us the idiots.

same person calling the plays this week?

Bucs have improved in some of the areas they struggled in last season namely wr and d-line. That is what off-season's are for. To take the core you have and add to it. Put better players in positions you need help with. Are the Bucs in playoff shape--no way. Are the panthers--not the way they have played so far this year. I would say that the Bucs are on better track to build to that playoff team. My biggest concern going into this year was who was going to replace our best defensive player Barber. I got my answer last week--Biggers. Is he a pro-bowler after one game? No. But I think some mentorship from Barber and a couple years under his belt, he will be great.

Also keep in mind Bucs were behind the first half of the game. They kept their poise, they kept plugging away and they pulled through. You can't knock that. I don't care who it was against. No it wasnt a real shock that Delhomme threw an int right to Barber. Yet it sets things in motion that us Bucs fans have been waiting to see. They are going into this game full of confidence and ready to continue the path they have started. I dont see Carolina in the same frame of mind after getting their butts handed to them.
