Man I gotta say...Creed was really good.

Oh Geez. I am shaking my head. You need a lesson in music.

Free Bird is NOT The Beatles, that would be Lynyrd Skynyrd. Totally different genre of rock and totally different generations of music. The Beatles helped lead into bands like Skynyrd, but they are southern rock. Maybe you were thinking of Black Bird?

Or "Free as a Bird," which is much more likely. The guy made a mistake -- he doesn't need a history lesson. ;)

WHAT is the deal with all the TB fans. They come out of the woodwork and ALL come to sign up for accounts with CarolinaHuddle just for this one game? Wow, thats seriously gay. Its not like we make forum "movements" to all go on other team's websites and talk poo to other teams. Thats just sad.

it just makes me sad. thats all.

I just hope this type of music doesn't die out to let in the more crappy music of this generation. I, for one, will not be listening to Kanye when I am 45.

I definitely think they are in depth if you listen to the lyrics of some of them, granted they have a billion songs so its hard to get to listen to every single one of them. They also pretty much started the whole rock n roll girls screaming and freaking out phase.

I respect that people don't like them, its just very rare that I find someone who doesn't. Or maybe Im just hanging out with a lot of people who share that common interest in music.

Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club band is hands down one of the best albums I have ever listened to.

What I meant is the music itself (the instrumentation, keys, lines etc.) are all simplistic. Anyone can write deep lyrics but if it's backed by elementary guitar chords and simplistic musical keys then it still sounds "simple".....

You just come across a little holier-than-thou with all of this talk about who you like and your inability to understand other people's opinions.

You keep offering up these very generic statements, as if we don't already know these things:

Loved Nirvana. Big part of my childhood and HUGE influence on the grunge music era that was the 90s.

Pretty sure Zepp was a lot of blues, some folk and some jazz as well. WHich is widely represented in their music if you listen to it.

Free Bird is NOT The Beatles, that would be Lynyrd Skynyrd. Totally different genre of rock and totally different generations of music. The Beatles helped lead into bands like Skynyrd, but they are southern rock.

Or maybe I'm just playing devil's advocate again. :boxing_smiley:

Oh, and I like Kanye. ;)

Someone asked me what I thought about Nirvana, so I answered.

He went through and explained what everyone else's influences were, so I added to the conversation, is that so bad? Zepp also happens to be my favorite band, so of course I enjoy talking about them anytime.

Obviously he didn't know FreeBird wasn't the Beatles, just thought I would make that clear.

I certainly understand other people's opinions and accept them. This thread was created because of a spoof on a song by Creed. can't we debate without you thinking that I don't accept?

As far as the Beatles go, I just have never had someone explain to me why they didn't like them, that's all. Now I have that explanation.

I am now thoroughly convinced you just like to argue with me.:D

Personally, I think Pearl Jam is maybe the best band of the last 20 years. They started off completely grunge but then changed into their own sound like great bands do. I love their new albums for what they are, they aren't commercial really and they have some deep songs.

Chris Cornell still has the best rock voice right now, it's perfect.

And Led Zepplein is great, but people need to realize they stole a good deal of their ideas from blues artists and whatnot, but did change them up to sound more rock and all of that, doesn't change the fact they were great.

Beatles got real good when they stopped caring what people though and wrote good stuff (the later years).

I could not possibly agree anymore with this than I already do.

Lyrics are actually what makes or breaks a band most of the time, and few can write good ones.

Most pop music is simple because that's what people like. People rarely like music that is technical, and that's why acts like Justin Beiber and Kesha etc. are so popular

This is the juxtaposition most musicians face, play music that satisfies the musician in you, or play music that is simple but well liked.

If you need an example (and a local one) just look at the Avett Brothers

I think you see the same thing in all of the arts. People want to read books and watch movies that don't require much thought on their part. I even draw a parallel to beer, where people want something that goes down smooth and isn't much of a challenge. People, for the most part, don't like challenges.

(Please don't think I'm being a beer snob.)
