Yeah he is calling you out

If you had to wait 6 games, you weren't a true Delhomme hater.

Yes I actually give players a chance to prove themselves. He was getting the job down in 2003 but you could tell then that other teams would figure him out and he wouldnt last long. To bad the Panthers didnt realise this until 2010.

First of all He says that he doesn't know about Moore and then seems to castigate fans because they are on the fence as well. Then he goes on to criticize fans because they liked him when he went 4-1 last year and aren't that crazy about him when he played so poorly in New York.

Lets put a few things in perspective. First of all, what was there not to like last year? He did well and didn't really have a poor game. In fact this past Sunday was actually the first poor game he has had in his career.

How much of fan's ambivalence is being fueled by the media's reluctance to support Moore saying he had no pressure last year, wasn't as good as he looked and might not be the answer. Couple that with all the nobslobbing over Clausen and it is easy why fans are confused and ambivalent.

For example, Clausen and Moore finished with almost identical preseason quarterback rankings yet Clausen still gets more love than Moore does. Even on this site we have threads saying Moore isn't the answer yet what has Clausen done to show he is any better?? JUst like when Delhomme was here, the backup quarterback is the most popular guy.

And lastly where is all this outpouring of negativity about Moore? Sure during the heat of the game lots of folks complained about his performance including me to everyone within yelling distance of my TV, but do you think most folks are really ready to throw him under the bus? I figure that people are looking at this game as important but not as a make or break it game. If the O-line had protected him for example and he still threw stupid picks, that is one thing. But there was plenty of blame to go around.

Seems to me that instead of calling out fans as fickle, it Sorenson wanted to do some thing he could give support to Moore instead of fueling the concerns. For my money he is just as fickle as the fans he criticizes.

This will be my last time giving my opinion on this matter, as this QB debate is already old and tiring. But I think right now, we are in a very unique situation. The possible lockout changes the way we need to view this. I'll explain...

Normally we could get by with Clausen on the bench for the year. If Moore is simply average, we can let him walk and then start Jimmy next year who will have his growing pains of course. If Moore is excellent, we resign him and see if we can move Clausen. I see no point in making someone who is "supposed" to be great sit his entire contract. Trade him while he still has hype.

But here's the deal. We may not have a 2011. Or, we may have a shortened 2011. If that's the case, and say we sit Jimmy this year (assuming Moore isn't LIGHTS OUT), then Jimmy also has to sit during the lockout. That means when we all come back in 2012, he finally starts...and has growing pains. Not to mention he may be rusty with those almost two years off. This will also hurt guys like Armanti, Gettis, etc.

So we will have to wait until 2013 before we can have confidence in him at all. By then, Smitty will have indeed lost a big step. Just sounds messy.

Again, this is NOT a "start Jimmy!" thread. But the fact that they drafted him at all means they were never 100% sure Matt is the man. No one knows if Jimmy is the man either. But I give Moore one more game. Not 3-5. Go ahead and throw Clausen to the wolves. Let him get some time under his belt in case he sees nothing in 2011. That way in 2012, at least he will have had some experience.

I've never understood this "he's not ready" talk. You'll NEVER be ready playing in practice and playing in the pre-season. You'll only ever be ready by going in a real game. If Matt looks below average again this week, we may as well start Jimmy. Not because he is some savior who will take us to the Playoffs, but because if he is who we think is our future, we need to give him some experience now.

Some argue we may have a new coach and that changes everything as he'll want his own QB. All I can do is ignore that for now. That's a whole other headache.

Umm...do you live in Charlotte? Do you talk to people here about the Panthers? If you have, then you should see where all the negativity is coming from.

Don't get me wrong, I was yelling and cussing at him on Sunday as well, but I don't think we should throw his ass outta town for 1 bad game.

If not, go to CharlotteObserver.com and read the comments on the Panthers articles for about....ohh the last month and a half.

If you listened to 610 this week or read some of the posts from gameday on here, you might see where he is coming from.

I do live around Charlotte, read the Observer, and yeah I see and hear some folks who don't like Moore. But honestly they are not the majority of fans. Most people who write in or participate in message boards like this are way beyond casual fans nor do the represent most folks.

Plus in my mind if Moore has a good game this Sunday and the Panthers win, some of the negativity will go away. Clausen will still be the most popular guy but that is the way it goes. Moore benefitted himself from that last year.

Your comment is like mine, I was mad Sunday but know better than to decide after 1 bad game.

i never give up on the panthers. No matter how sucky they are i still get excited in watching them play every week. Now i do get pissed off when they dont show up to play, or our QB situation stinks more than the crap i just took. Anways..

P.s. I just think Panther fans are tired of crappy QB play. I still have nightmares on the first season game against Eagles last season. People still have a bad taste in their mouth with the way Jake was playing towards the end. Now we are seeing "somewhat" of a glimps of the same play now. Fans just want good QB play!!!

But again, does some fans comments on talk radio or in response to an article reflect most fans views. Lets see what happens Sunday when they announce Moore or he throws a pick. If they boo him like they did Carr then I might agree with you, but until then, I think he is helping to create the controversy not simply commenting on it.

Yeah it is a start Jimmy post. LOL

The reality is that Clausen was drafted because he was a steal at the position he was picked and we needed a backup at the time when we got rid of Delhomme. Picking him up doesn't mean he will be the starter. Most of that speculation has been fueled by the fact he is signed for 4 years and is cheap. If Moore has a good rest of the year and Richardson opens up the wallet, Moore could be here next year.

And your last paragraph is the most sage. Most folks think Fox is gone for sure. Whoever comes in will likely bring in a veteran or keep Moore is he plays well and will see Clausen as a third option. Unless of course the new coach gets a long-term deal, Richarson stays cheap and we are clearly in a rebuilding year.

The thing that pisses most some of who are on Moore's ass, is the fact that there is ALWAYS something to complain about. ALWAYS. Why do we always have to go through the same things over and over. And some of you get pleasure out of pointing out how Moore sucks or how JR is laying down this season. I don't like losing either, but what the hell do I getting out of complaining about everything? Whats wrong with taking what we get out of team. There is no fun in focusing on the negative constantly. All the time its something. All the time

I was there. Sitting up in the 500s around a shitload of Eagles fans. It was HORRIBLE. We scored first too (Dwill) remember? Thought we had it in the bag. Dammit. That was such a bad game. There was 10 yr old Eagles fans talking poo to me. Took all I had in me to bite my tongue.

I think this article is WAAAAY out of touch. I wouldn't say our fanbase has completely turned on Moore yet. In fact, I wouldn't say MOST fans have turned on him. Maybe a large minority have (40%?), but not most by all means.

The only fans who are bashing Moore right now are:

1. People who don't understand how the NFL works, and don't get that good, even great QBs can have a bad game.

2. People who don't understand how the NFL works, and don't see that our running game was about as bad as our passing game, which indicates O-line issues.

3. People who don't understand how the NFL works, and don't realize we have a really bad Wide Receiver corp.

4. People loyal to #17, and will always hate Moore because he supplanted Delhomme.

5. People who are sensationalists and don't have loyalty to much of anything anyway.

For the rest of us, the jury is still out on Moore. He has potential, but until he can elevate the play of the poor play of his team-mates, we're just cautiously waiting. That doesn't mean we're ready to sacrifice him.

P.S. On the contrary... I predicted this exact thing would happen before our preseason even ended.

http://www.carolinahuddle.com/forum/42051-the-wr-core-according-to-gantt-2.html#post2628916

Before it's all over, I fear Moore, a good QB, WILL be sacrificed because our shitty Front Office didn't get him the weapons or protection he needed.
