First post and Hi to everyone.

Can't stay mad at him--he's done way too much for the franchise to let one game spoil it all.

Who thinks he's going to come out absolutely smoking early next season to remove the stench of the playoff game? A couple of years ago he had an awesome TD to INT ratio, I bet he does it again. :)

First, I'd like to say hello to everyone. I'm new to the board. I have been reading off and on and have finally decided to join.

In saying all of this,

I'm surprised that some people still don't get it. I'm becoming very disillusioned with comments like the one above. Let me get this straight:

1. A guy (flaky Jake) has arguably the worse playoff performance in NFL history. He's given the keys to the ferrari and is told don't crash (manage the game). Not only does he crash, he's driving drunk, hit the median, and blew the tires....He chocked. He crapped the bed big time. If another QB took a massive laxative they wouldn't have crapped the bed that bad. To have the best running game, a top 2/3 WR, a solid OL, going against a 10pt underdog; he Turns the ball over 6 times and people are still backing this guy......

2. Matt moore is the future..now. the whole "Jake is the best option." is a conundrum with this fan base I will never understand. Jake is only the "best option" because he's the only one our stubborn coach plays....period.

3. The prognosticators....heck, even myself...have the Steeler and Eagles in the playoffs. What the coaches....and fans...of both respective teams seem to understand is that: THE QB IS the CONDUIT TO ANY GOOD OFFENSE. Our coach, and judging by some of these assine comments about keeping flaky jake by the fans; for the most part some don't understand that. McNabb plays like crap...bench him. Guess what, if Big Ben plays like garbage you know that Tomlin is going to do..yup, bench him. Fox doesn't understand that; and while reading the comment in the observer today about him being our starting QB going into next season, those of you expecting a superbowl run...forget it. I expect the Hindenburg explosion with Jake this time. Not even he can top the "Atomic Bomb over Japan" implosion he put on during these playoffs.

4. Last. It's bad when every other fan from every other team realizes that we need to cut jake but the fans of the team don't. I swear, you Jake sympathizers are funny. We are a QB, DC, away from a Superbowl, but a guy that everytime he drops back you're fingers are crossed is keeping us from the promised land. Keep drinking the Jake Kool-aid if you want too. My black a** knows better. I've had Jake's back for a few years, but lately I've seen the light. He's not the answer at all. I'll leave with this....NE would have never known what they had in Cassel until they played him. We've seen the poise, pocket presence, accuracy with Moore and he's still riding the pine as flaky Jake will be our starter next season....pathetic.

5. Matt Cassell......Matt Moore. Hmmm coincidence....I think not. It's a sign people, lol. Na, seriously, just noticed it though.

Ask Steve Smith what he thinks about your "cut Jake" idea.

I know when I read the paper he said "that if I listened to the fans right now I would be in jail"

I am sure he is talking about you.

If Smith keeps listening to Jake a lot of panther fans will be in Jail.

I liken the Smith/Jake relationship to the Girlfriend getting beat but never presses charges on him in hopes he'll change. Inevitably those with sense know otherwise.

When Smitty is getting hit in stride I'm sure he'll be whistling a different tune. Besides, I'd chalk that statement up as a PR move. We all know how ESPN chomps at the bit with "controversy." Also, smith is not the only player on offense on that team. There's a reason why Smith is a player and not a GM or the Owner.

Cut jake----- Matt Cassell, Matt Moore coincidence????

Your a f*cking idiot.

No need for the name calling...chap. I've stated my opinion you don't agree. Lets leave it at that. Trying to keep things civil relax. Perhaps you need to come up for air...you know when going down on Jake.

All of our problems will be solved, when the turd is fired and Davidson remembers to RUN RUN RUN RUN RUN...

...until then, people will blame Jake for the short comings of the OC/DC.

I'll give you the DC part. I'm with you on that one. But as someone alluded to in another post, the writing has been on the wall for sometime concerning Jake. I think the playoff game was just the exclamation point to knock the upper brass upside the head in realizing Jake needs the boot. But I agree Jangler, the DC needs to go.

You mean to say your one of those Bandwagon fans? :P

LOL. NO, not at all. I just wanted to scope the land so to speak. I was actually here before the board crashed; but I don't count that seeing I rarely if at all posted. I will say that this board gives me some good laughs every time I view it. For the most part very knowledgeable fans. But I've been a die hard Fan from the beginning. :sifone:

for that game the blame needs to go around a bit more. Sure i'm mad at jake. lets be honest though, our gameplan sucked, we didn't look prepared at all, our play calling sucked, jake playing horrible was just the nail in the coffin.

Welcome.

I can get with your points for the most part, but I don't see where "flaky" is a valid adjective when referring to Jake. To me, Jake the Fake is a little more to the point. You did bring up some valid points, particularly about other fan bases which I will put my own spin on:

I doubt that there is any other fan base in football that would want to see Jake in their colors as "the guy." I can't think of one. What rational fan who is a student of the game would want to see Jake lead their team after he put up that performance last Saturday. Who? I have watched NFL football since I was a boy---over 30 years now---and I can honestly say that Jake's performance was the worst display by a QB in a playoff game (and perhaps any game) that I have ever seen. I am sure that if the "Jakers" (you heard it here first) would think about it, they would come to the same conclusion.

Perhaps the Lions would take him with open arms, but that's probably a stretch after his nuclear meltdown against the Cardinals. But, here you have it...Panthers fans that see the world through their Jake-colored glasses. It used to be nauseating, but after so many seasons one grows accustomed to the outbreak of "Jakeitis", so the Jakers are just mildly annoying.

But to be fair, I respect Delhomme for his limited successes in the past and I applaud his spirit ("flaky"?), but all good things must come to an end, and it appears that Jakes good days are behind him. Now, of course you'll hear that Jake had his best season, blah blah blah. But, really. Double Trouble was really what got us to the post season, and Jake threw us right out.

Listening to the Jakers, you'd think that Jake was Jesus. O.K. maybe not, but the Jakers do treat him like he's the next best thing to Tom Brady or Peyton Manning. Like I said, I did come to respect Jake, but I've never revered him like a first rate level QB, because his play has not warranted that level of adoration. He is, and always has been, a decidedly average QB who can have a great game, just as well as an awful one. His level of performance is consistently inconsistent, and parallels the performance of the Panthers in nearly all phases of the game (except of course the running game of late).

Over the years, I have thought that maybe I am missing something. O.K. that's not totally true, but I have attempted to come as close to a Jaker as I could, but it has always been like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

It just doesn't fit, and Jake's catastrophic implosion, at home, against an O.K. defense validates all those who have called for Jake to be replaced over the years. Like you said, it was the exclamation point in many of our eyes, but to the Jakers it's a question mark. The thing is is that they already know the answer, just like all the other fans who are laughing at the Jakers' refusal to see the writing on the wall.
