My dog and I share the same birthday. We're getting drunk together as soon as she's three-years old.

Mine are both mutts rescued off the street. They guessed on the birthdays being in the Spring so I just say all three of us have the same birthday.

Adapted for parrot owners...

1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful, and I will make you pay for it.

2. Take the time to understand what I want from you. Things will go much easier all around once you learn obedience.

3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being, and it makes it a lot easier to get away with stuff.

4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have work, friends, and entertainment. I have only you. And again, I'll make you pay for it.

5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me. And it helps me pick up stuff to say when your friends are around.

6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it. Trust me, never.

7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and once in a while, I choose not to bite you (or at least not bite you hard).

8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, just remember that I'm a parrot and don't bother.

9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old, and I'll laugh when you do.

10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because despite the rough times I often give you, you're still my daddy and I love you very much.

I know my son is already planning on taking ours to college. I think 15 is about right for quakers.

I stand corrected. They can live up to 40 with the average being in the 20's barring disease, accidents, or accidental release.

The bigger ones, yeah.

The breed that bunny and I have tends to have a 10 to 15 year life cycle.

Mr Scot, I just read an article saying they can live longer. One is in his 40's.

wow. I remember when I was a kid, my parents were friends with somebody that owned a macaw (i think.) It was around 50 years old. I always thought it was unbelievable. That bird had so much personality.
