Hahaha Jerry, you're facing a potential blackout on Sunday

i agree with boldin. we really should have gone after him.

i would say that the jury is still out on lafell and edwards, though edwards would all under the category of developing a WR which is something we haven't really excelled in either. still too early to tell with those two. so far no WR in this class has looked all that great. the golden "boy" tate has supposedly looked pretty bad in practice and was benched last week. unless he gets his crap together he might be the next best bust since dwayne jarrett.

i understand their idea of not pursuing a vet WR but it sure would have helped this team this year be more competitive.

I agree totally we would have been better this year, but I think the team's whole philosophy was "this is not the year". See if Lafell and Edwards are anything along with a majority of the rest of the team.

Sweet solid leadership and fifty yards a game. Totally worth 8 million dollars a year. Boldin was not a great fit because we don't throw it enough to justify tossing a guy money and draft picks. If leadership on this team was that important we could have brought back Moose. On a day when this team, constructed as it is, throws enough to justify having two number one receivers, we are probably losing.

Your arguments are baseless and full of assumptions that are still irrelevant to the fact that we could have made a grab at a very talented WR and been set for quite a while..

Money, not a real issue. Throwing the ball, not a real issue. Rebuilding, simply not true. And.. I find it funny that we are rebuilding but can't use a guy to come in and push our offense in a real positive direction.

Nothing you have stated should deter us from upgrading our weakest position.

Anyhow, I've stated great reasons to upgrade, you're objections are proving me more right than wrong.. Have a good day..

Extremely short sighted. Without the limits that will be defined by a new CBA established, there is no way to predict the team's ability to keep any player beyond this year, especially the ones that are commanding the salaries at the top for their position as your best options are.

Your point is like the boogey man.. Scares the kids who don't get it, but the adults know its a joke..

Look at all the contracts given this year.. Obviously they are really fuging themselves over.. lol

Short sighted.. Love the word.. Just not buying it. Put your laptop up to a mirror before you call some1 short sighted.. lol

Your argument refuses to deal with the reality the we are going to spend a finite amount of money on players, so add a guy (Boldin) that doesn't fit what we do to currently and possibly lose talented guys (Williams, Kalil) that ARE the identity of the offense.

Money not the real issue? Alright I'll email Richardson. Throwing the ball is not the issue? Sweet, I'll tell Fox not to do what to do what he's done his entire tenure here as head coach.

You say that we are not rebuilding, but it appears that the front office was under that impression. I suppose they thought restarting with unproven guys on the defensive line, receiver, and quarterback positions was an upgrades over last year.

If we are rebuilding, I don't see how having a guy two years younger than smitty sets us up at the position for years to come, especially with a possible lockout and lost year coming.

You stay classy, San Diego.

Bleys i agree with most of the things you have said in this thread. What you have too come too grips with now is some people in this thread don't think a the WR position is a major problem.(Not me I watch all the Games) but some people do. Maybe they see DJ beating press coverage regularly or running the right route all the time. I don't know how but maybe that's what they see so too keep on stressing a point is futile at this point.

i see that and respect it, but it still seems like such a shame to have so many pieces (surprisingly) in place for solid run this year without sacrificing much in the way of longterm goals and not take advantage of it.

You're looking for a 1 year fix and don't care how much of Jerry's money gets spent for it. The joke is the guy who thinks we're one player (WR) from contending for a Lombardi. Those that pay attention see several issues, not all of which can be repaired this year making it even more foolish to throw money at big name WRs for 1 year.

Fair enough, I guess the front office either thought it was too big a commitment of money or draft picks or both. Also Boldin might have had a say where he was going (ie refusing to sign an extension). Boldin is a great player and I would have been more than happy to get him but not making that acquisition gives us a better chance to retain Beason, Williams, Kalil, and Davis which I am more excited about. If we don't keep some of those guys then, yeah, I would view it as a misstep to not get Boldin.

A new CBA will most likely put a cap back in place. That will put some of those same names back on the street in 2011 if there is football. If no football, then they'll be 2 years older when play recommences (maybe). 1 WR isn't going to make this team instant superbowl contenders.

Mainly because he sees it as the only problem. The O-line needs attention. Safeties suck and our LB depth is garbage. Plug in any name WR you want, it won't help those. I also am not thrilled with either option at QB for this year and suspct it may be why some guys like Housh may not have had any interest in coming here.

Oline is missing a starter and seem too always start off slow. Not too mention New York didn't really start hitting Moore until late 3rd and the 4th when we had too pass. I have more faith in the safeties then you do so we can disagree on that and I like the depht at LB Williams can fill in at all LB position. Norwood is young but has talent and Davis is hurt. Put him back in the mix and it's a very strong position that is set for years.

Right now a good #2 wr helps Smith (keeps him from beening triple teamed), hepls a young QB (gives him another reliable target). Helps the other young WR(not being depended on to make a impact in their 1st season) helps the running game (people can't stack on the run), and the oline(not having to hold blocks as long). Also hepls the def. (keeping the chains moving help them get rest and off the field).

Now what is the downside?
