John Fox: Keep Delhomme, he still has it

Jake singlehandedly cost us that game, and I don't care what anybody says. No team can overcome 6 turnovers. You can argue the playcalling, and I'm somewhat OK with that argument, however Jake should have thrown the goddamn ball away instead of throwing it to the other team. Either his vision stinks or his decision making stinks. Either way, I say open up the QB competition and give Moore, McCown, or whoever they want to bring in an honest chance at the starting job. We don't need a fuging gunslinger back there anymore, we need someone who can take care of the ball and manage the game.

He spreads the ball around pretty good. It's just the others don't have that break away ability like Smith.

I have supported Delhomme.

The fact is, he is our only option, at the moment, and that's thanks to drafing strategies by the FO and the philosophy of the coach.

Delhomme, is at best an average QB, at the very best. I can't believe the first post put him in the Farve, Warner, et al catagory...not there, never has been, never will be...there is a certain level of ability that he does not have and will never have as that is god-given.

He consistenly under throws his receivers, and most of the time, NOT on purpose. Since the Rams playoff game in Jan 2004, I've not seen him hit a receiver in stride for a TD.

He holds the ball too long, resulting in fumbles.

He consistently stares down his receivers.

Don't be surprised if the Cardinals did not pick up on something in his mechanics that keyed them, just like, his snap count a few years ago in another playoff game.

His constant mistakes in the red zone are flat-out not acceptabe. He has yet to learn to either pull the ball down and run, or simply throw it away.

3 points is better than no points, or a Delhomme turn-over.

The rookie QBs this year have managed games better than he has, and that's all Fox asks his QB to do.

Sorry to say, and again, I have been a Delhomme person, but, he's declining, and it really does not matter the reason. There comes a time when the upside does not take away from the downside. Every year, I've heard the reasons for not drafting QBs under Fox...we have passed on some QBs and here we are.

for what we ask a QB to do he should do a better job.we run the ball so much we only want the QB to throw 20 to 30 times a game you should not throw 4 or 5 picks like that

Yet in that game we threw the ball 66% of the time, just sayin'...

Releasing Delhomme would be a mistake. Without him, the team was 7-9 and even with the runninggame he makes a difference. Funny, the team got away from the running game against Arizona for some reason. 2 NFC Championships, Superbowl appearance and 3 playoff seasons since joining the team in 03. Not to mention he came back from Tommy Johns surgery which most guys don't even play after that, let alone football. I say, keep him. This way in the off season he won't being trying to recover from that surgery but instead, he'll be preparing with the team and himself for the upcoming season. Don't give me that sh*t about Matt Moore, you seen what he can do and not much IMO. Bright kid but not the answer. Still think Jake has that it that can still carry the team whether he is 34 or whatever. Look at John Elway, Brett Favre, or Kurt Warner. Jake is still young and just needs another off season to make it right. Hell, the team wen 12-5 with him back. But I guarantee that you will not find anyone to replace him in the draft or FA with the same leadership or "IT" intangibles Jake has. To me, Ken Lucas would be the one that leaves. But you let Jake go, and Carolina will suffer for years to come. Don't blame that game solely on him, think about what he had to deal with in the off season and everything else first. Look at how Kurt struggled and look at him now, think about it. Cutting Jake would be Carolina suicide. Just continue to build the team up thats all, and you'll be fine.
