Just FYI - Winning the first game

The only season where the Panthers lost the first game and still made the playoffs:

'05. Lost to the Saints 20-23, before knocking off the defending Superbowl champ Patriots in Week 2. Actually started the season 1-2 after a Week 3 loss to Miami. The team finished 11-5 and went to the conference championship. Every other playoff year, the Panthers started with a win and finished strong. There have been occasions like '99 and '04 where the team has been in the hunt until the final week of the season despite losing the first game.

I'll mention that in '02, the Panthers started 3-0 and then proceeded to finish 7-9, so it's not all about starting strong.

But what I'm getting at is, we can get a pretty good idea of how the Panthers will finish this year by their first game (I'd like to be proven wrong, Matt Moore). At this point, I'm going 7-9, because Fox doesn't finish any worse than that.

hahaa but we are equal with the falcons!!

Falcons lost an AFC game so wouldn't that put them in 3rd with us in 4th?

I'm not up on the rules enough to know. I'm pretty sure division games are more important than conference. Conference games are more important than League.

Somebody drop some knowledge on this.
