Ok so our DL was one of the worst in NFL history, and we sign some new players (2) but we also bring back Tuttle and Ray--why????

We have bad safeties and let them walk, then bring back a S from that unit.  He only played 324 plays in 2024 and looks to play less this season.  He had a 48.1 PFF grade vs the run.  What are we doing?  Camp bodies?

Looking at the DL exclusively, they're adding DB, Wharton, and Brown III to it which completely replaces last season's starters. That leaves Robinson, Crumedy, Tuttle, Ray, and any other additions made competing for the three back-up spots. They essentially added a 100 tackle DT, the sack leader of one of last season's Super Bowl teams, and a true NT rather than an undersized one.

I'm with you on the safeties. If Scott does return, I expect him to take Sam's role as back up SS/ST. Moehrig is the clear starter and a major upgrade... as much as I want a top flight FS, I have to appreciate the team prioritizing a run-stopping safety to fix record-setting incompetence over a centerfielder. Then when I consider that the Panthers get to play against Bijan Robinson, Alvin Kamara, and Bucky Irving twice a season... I can dig it. The situation at FS tho...

I'm concerned that we might see more soft zone coverage if they don't find a starting FS. I'm finding it hard to believe that they're going in depending on Demani Richardson, but maybe his play last season makes them comfortable with adding another young body to compete against this season? I gotta dive into the tape and see for myself.

I remember hearing good things about Nick Scott and the whole safety group coming into the season. 

I had expected this to be a good group. Fuller especially was hyped up.

And then Jordan Fuller, Xavier Woods, and Nick Scott all were hot garbage.

Demand Richardson ended up getting playing time over these bums.

Nick Scott for depth & ST? Why not i guess, but safety is still one of our biggest needs

I suppose my point was, and i get that a starter in 2024 might be a decent backup, but we know what they can do--nobody else is picking them up. Bring in some young, cheaper talent--and they still might.  This is the draft to add depth behind Brown and Brown, assuming Robinson is to be depth behind Wharton.

Sometimes what you know is enough and just move on.

It's not really surprising though. Over the years the people in charge gave plenty of chances to guys who where obviously not it. Those guys aren't even good backups lol so there should have been a roster churn. If they still don't add DL depth regardless of the current roster then it's a good sign this crew isn't it. Some of these guys should get beaten out by a rookie sooner than later if not immediately.
