too many games we get into with vigor and get a nice grip on control of the game, but as time wears on our grip gets weaker, and weaker, and weaker, until our control of the game slips from our grasp and completely gets out of hand

Fox is notoriously average (arguably weak) at in-game adjustments.

Game to game, though? He's not so bad at that.

Fox can make good adjustments (even in-game), but the problem is that he only makes them when things are not going well. When he feels that we are doing what he basically wants, he sticks with what he believes is working. What he's bad at is anticipating the opposing team's adjustments, and changing things up just enough to keep them off-balance.

Moore had a "Delhomme" meltdown. Nothing Davidson did caused those picks. Moore had plenty of time on each one of them to see the defenders and recognize that the best option would be to either throw it away or check down. And despite the poor OL play, he did have several plays in which he had plenty time in the pocket to see the field and find the best option, but instead either held on to the ball too long or made a bad decision. IMO, he was playing scared and forced things, regardless of playcalling or protection.

The "Davidson" meltdown was the general offensive efficiency...or rather inefficiency. Poor gameplan, poor play calling, and poor preperation. Now Moore's meltdown was a part of Davidson's, but went far beyond the scope of what JD dictated.

The Playcalling was equally stupid, but nobody that call themselves an "NFL QB" should ever throw (more like loft) a ball into triple coverage. 3 TIMES.

I don't know what Matt Moore was on in this game, but he played like a fish out of water in there.

I'm willing to give Matt the benefit of doubt, but now it's up to him to come back strong from this. Or remain a scrub.

Yeah, had that discussion a time or two as well. Was talking to a buddy of mine on that topic yesterday.

Fox approaches a football contest like a poker game rather than a chess match. Hence, as long as he feels like he's doing the right thing, there's no need to worry about what the other guy does. And that's all well and good, as long as your opponent keeps doing what they were doing. But smart football coaches adjust, and Fox is terrible at anticipating what changes another coach might make.

What's really odd about that is that Fox is good friends, and swaps coaching strategies from time to time, with Charlie Weis. Anytime you listen to Weis, he talks about the game like a chess match, and is very big on anticipating changes from the other side.
