Fox says Moore has concussion

it's a severe concussion to cause vomitting. I don't blame Matt's play on him. It reminded me too much of the play-calling against AZ in the playoff game. Running was working and we abandoned it completely. FOX is the problem.

The cameras seemed to cut away quickly after they caught Matt throwing up, but it is probably pretty bad and he'll most likely be out at least one week (I don't even play a Dr. on TV, but it's relatively common knowledge).

If the play from the sidelines is not a good one, the QB must be able to read the defense and change the play. And if you are in the red zone, you MUST be able to know when to throw the ball away if nothing is there.

I do agree with you that the run game disappeared after the half, which is inexcusable for a Panthers team built for the run.

What's going to be the real treat on this board is when Clausen plays like GARBAGE next week and the Moore supporters all say "told you so!" and really divide our fanbase even more than it already is. All over who starts at QB. It's lame, I tell ya.

there is a diference, Clausen may play like poo AS A ROOKIE! But, if it shows like preseason, if he has more potential than Moore; most will overlook what is already set to be a down year!

Was I seriously the only one who noticed that he got a concussion in the THIRD quarter? He took a lot of brutal hits all game, but there was one hit in the third that got him dazed and he played very strangely the rest of the game. It wasn't long after that that he did that really weird "bad decision" in the red zone when he threw the ball to the exact same place twice, both times to well covered players, the second attempt resulting in an interception.

The guy got a concussion a lot earlier in the game than people realize, but he kept playing out of courage/stupidity. It was the second concussion that took him out entirely.

I know a concussion when I see one, and his behavior was incredibly aberrant due to that earlier big, concussing hit.

I'm not an apologist; I don't care who's at QB as long as he handles the position well. I am saying that the offensive line let Moore get the crap beaten out of him so badly that he got hit so hard so many times that his decision making abilities were severlely affected. I have no idea how well he might have played, how good his decisions might have been if the O line didn't play unforgivably horribly, allowing so many hits.

And, of course, Moore's a decent guy, so no way in he'll is he going to let anyone else take the blame but himself. It's impossible to know what really happened out there on the field.

That would be bad for Matt if it is true. Sounds like it might be scary in any event. I hope he is ok.

As for football, a lot went wrong today. As is usually the case with a John Fox team, they are not ready to play on opening day.

Idk. Maybe that's true. Maybe not. I just know that he was finding his groove just before halftime and into the third quarter was looking good. Just sometime near the end of the 3rd, he regressed which was weird to see.

I agree with him. After one hit to the head in the third that they just re-showed on Fox Got Game, he didn't play "right" again. You could see it in his eyes on the tv.

As badly as the O-Line blocked for him, I jokingly texted one of my friends if he'd pulled a K Collins and called someone an N-word in the locker room.

Good thing we were playing the Giants or we would have got our arses handed to us today by a good team. It's too bad Moore got hurt, but I don't want to see any excuses about poor QB play this season especially if Moore continues to play like crud. Some of us (myself included) had a feeling our offense would struggle. Preseason doesn't count, but no TDs was a inclination that our inexperinced QB corps wasn't exactly going to light it up this year. Even if Clausen comes in, our play won't improve dramatically, if at all.

These are all quotes from a NY fan website, and I have to say that they were extremely respectful about he whole thing:

There was a shot of Moore as he left the field, helmet off, and he had*that glazed over look of a person who has sustained trauma and is in severe shock. I mentioned it earlier - it was disturbing to see. The kid gave it all he had - nobody could have taken that kind of beating and not responded in a similar way.

The shot of him*vomiting on the bench was strange...almost looked like he was injured but was puking...hard to describe but I thought it all looked unusual....like the vomiting didn't fit with the rest of the image or something.

Hope he's ok

He was throwingup on the sideline when they showed him after the hit.*They whacked him. Hope he is ok though.

I like Moore*and hope he's OK. I'm glad we got to another team's QB and actually put him on the turf - you never like seeing a guy getting hurt but I'm glad we finally made some things happen w/ the front 7/pass rush.

    • AT got what he deserved. Be gone and enjoy those 4 catches and the bench and your pay cut
    • we have been bad offensively basically every game Rico Dowdle hasn't gone full Tecmo Bowl Bo Jackson on folks.
    • Strongly disagree with the premise here. Without getting too into it, the biggest gripe for many has always been his footwork and pocket presence.  Shallow drops, happy feet, bad awareness - his overall technique is highly unconventional and not beneficial to his size/frame.  His upper body gets mad out of sync with his lower, drops back parallel to the LOS, erratic behavior. When you take that to the NFL level, you get swallowed up. And he got shellshocked and started bailing way too soon on plays. Unnecessary throwaways when he should step UP into the pocket and hit.   He got away with it in school because sooo much of his work was out of structure or quick hits to Jamo.  He was able to not bail early and stick in the pocket this last game. He also was dropping deeper than he usually does to create sight lanes. He can’t really outrun DLs so he needs to create that space via drop to survey properly. When he does these bs skip hops in the gun, he barely drops and is flooded. He needs to stay active with his feet but learn to step into the pocket more.  His average arm when he’s not doing this right turns Pennington esque.
