The rain started falling in the third quarter, and so did the Panthers.

The Giants went back up 24-16 after the Panthers slipped and slopped their way through the last 15 minutes.

Former Independence High standout Hakeem Nicks caught his third touchdown pass of the day, but the Giants started to slowly pull away.

They drove for a field goal on their first possession, and took advantage of a Panthers mistake for the field position that made the TD drive easy.

Panthers long snapper J.J. Jansen flubbed a snap on a punt, dribbling in the general vicinity of Jason Baker.

Then Chris Gamble slipped and fell on the rain-slicked turf, allowing Mario Manningham and easy 25-yard gain which set up an easy one for Nicks.
