Deangelo Williams, this will be a toughie. William's health after this year, Stewart's long term health outlook will all figure into whether he's resigned.

It would be stupid to sign any of these guys long term right now from a business stand point, although it would give the fans a warm and fuzzy feeling.

there would have to be at least the possibility of that happening for me to start trying to go on my own. waiting just a while longer when you hear something off in the distance that could save you would be better than wasting your energy in a futile effort.

each choice could just as easily be the right one as the wrong one.

considering the respect i have for JR in what he has built here, i'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt here although i don't agree with all of his decisions. given a choice between having JR and jerrah as owners, i'm going to choose JR every time and trust his judgment and business savvy more.

we don't have huge holes like those other teams.. I feel pretty good about our team.. but a WR could have been addressed this year with 2 great options and we failed, as we have failed the last 6 or 7 years, to bring in a solid receiver..

to say we need to spend like those other teams isn't really what the issue is.. we could have brought in 1 great FA acquisition...

I understand but if we'd done for Thomas Davis what you want to do right now for Jon Beason we'd probably have about $30 million guaranteed we'd have to pay Davis right now and he's blown out his ACL twice for our money.

i don't agree about williams at all. having a dominant run game like we have now is going to be crucial to the success of whoever grows into our franchise QB role. it's going to take several years for moore or especially clausen to get to a point where he can carry the team on his back the way that other well established QBs can. as good as we think sutton and goodson are, they and stewart will be nowhere near as effective as willians and stewart.

williams can be signed relatively easily. he should be re-signed and i fully believe he will be. it will hurt the team much more than it could possibly help to let him go.

I disagree rookies wont get better without playing, they need more study time than playing time, as rookies anyways. Develop them properly. Sure you can always just throw them in there and see if they instantly have what it takes but damn talk about taking a chance. A chance not even worth keeping Jarrett benched for.

I have read this thread for about two hours, having spent money to get to NJ..and cheer on the Panthers in the friggin' rain, with all the hoopla NYC can heap on a team playing in Jersey and seeing so many "specials" on the New digs I wanna puke.

After two hours I just discovered why so many hate me here...we are talkin' about the season (2010 just so I am clear to my critics) the Panthers just forfeited, owned by a total dork, and may I quote "brain dead" guy who like makes multi-million ( "hundreds" of millions ) dollah by hiring guys for short term employment ( sorta get that for the record ) and somewhere in between, I am reading about quite a few players in the NFL. who may or may not be right for this team.

Now if I got all that apples and oranges routine right, most are saying that we suck because of JR, need some real WR's ( did I not read for a couple of years now about the Jarrett Love Him/hate him syndrome? ) and I just wasted a trip!

Yep, cause thats how all teams get Superstar receivers. No one drafts and develops them.

I remember thats how we got Smitty in the first place.

If you call throwing a rookie in as a #2, and expecting them to carry the load development. Playing time is not more important than studying time for a WR rookie, it just isn't. And like I said LaFell looks to be the only WR worth developing as of now and even he is just a rookie. There should be A LOT more options than just one (still unknown) rookie to develop at the WR position IMO. A WR vet other than smitty is also crucial for a young wr to sit behind and develoup. Obviously smitty isn't the teaching type so your asking these rookies to look up to Jarrett? Bad idea.

But we are getting ahead of ourselves this year will obviously tell us many things.

You can't bring in how we got Smitty, he is a freak pick, a freak player and is one of the best. He is godly and therefore doesn't count.

But even he needed time to start up, imagine how long it is going to take a lesser WR.
