DeAngelo is a student of the game...

The single best runningback we've ever had. If healthy he will be an all time great. He broke NCAA records in college. The Reggie Bush hype was in full swing that year and if not for that Williams would have been the #1 RB coming out that year.

DeAngelo didn't start for a couple years but has still out gained Bush. Speed, quickness, power. I like Stew a lot but he's high risk high reward. He can't even practice so he could be a house of cards. I'd put my money on D for now.

He likely is the best back in Panther history but if you read DGantt's Twitter page he has been saying on more than one occasion that he does not believe DeAngelo Williams will be a Panther next season. He says that there are many free agents to follow next year, money will be an issue, and that the Panthers are really high on all of the other running backs they have as well.

Not sure he will, but I know he's a FA in a year with lots of them. RT @dondada8203 Why do you think d-will will be gone next year?

daringantt

No question. But I think either alone could be a 1,600-yard RB. RT @ZakkCOGZ I think that dwill wouldnt be as good w/o stew and vise versa

If healthy, Stew/Sutton/Goodson OK. RT @jamestheaussie How important is 2-back system long term? If D-Will walks do they draft RB early?

With Stew/Sutton/Goodson not sure it's smart to pay DeAngelo next year anyway. Giving the 2nd contract to a RB is a risky bet to begin with.

RT @TJMURRAY78 u r good at what u do. Very sarcastic but a true professional but if u think deangelo will b back next year ur very naive.

So his numbers may be among the best all time as a Panther, but this season may be the ceiling for his stats in Carolina.

In defense of Bush, who I labeled as one of my five most overrated players in football, it is hard to rate him next to Williams. You are talking about an offense in Carolina where the rock is pounded over and over and over. In New Orleans they throw and throw and throw. So rushing statistics aren't easy to come by. In the first quarter of last nights game they threw 16 passes and ran just one time. On that one carry Bush rushed for 7 yards. Williams will get more than 7 rushes in the first half of the game Sunday.

I don't care what Gantt says, he's a tool. I think we'll keep DWill, and if we don't I'll be severely disappointed. Sutton and Goodson are unproven, and like someone else pointed out, Stewart has his injury issues. Dwill is a beast, he's smart, and he's a class act. Seems that you can't get all of those things in a package that often. Pay the man. He's earned it.

If DWill was super concerned about money, he would have already demanded a new contract after his break out year a couple years ago.

yeah, Gantt's a tool. he doesn't know anything about the business side of football. DW and big J-Stew sell tickets. the same people who pay hundreds of dollars to see DW and J-Stew run all over defenses aren't gonna spend that same amount of money for a J-Stew and Goodson/Sutton show. i just don't see it happening. therefor... if Richardson is smart, he'll pay the man. most people don't realize that you can add all kinds of things in a contract, they don't come pre-scripted. just as an example... say Richardson extended his contract to a four year deal... should he get hurt, or something bizarre happens... Richardson can have a clause in the contract stating he forfeits any money that comes after the injury. Gantt's retarded, and we'll end up re-signing most, if not, all of our players on contract year's... except for Jarrett, of course. haha
