Carolina’s Sunday opener against the New York Giants is what is called a “résumé game’’ for coach John Fox.

This has to be one of the most hair-brained theories I've read yet. Fox beating Coughlin on Sunday has nothing to do with him staying here or going to New York.

The biggest factor for that is the Giants missing the playoffs again. If they make it, then Coughlin isn't going anywhere unless he retires. And have you seen the NFC East this year? They are mess. Dallas looked terrible in preseason. The Eagles have Kolb starting at QB (), and Shanahan is in a rebuild mode with McNabb (who got gimped up and missed most the pre-season).

The Giants are the most stable team of the whole division, and the only one with a Super Bowl win in the past 10 years. I'd say they have a really good shot at making the playoffs, and Tom Coughlin will be there in 2011 if we have a season.
