The Giants defense

So all three INTs were early in the game.

Do you believe in momentum?

i more think of it as snowballing with jake. same thing, though. it gets started one way or the other early on and just keeps getting worse (or better).

jake had a lot of residual crap on him from the game before him and could never shake it off. not sure he was even able to physically or emotionally.

he'd walk into a game with the old funk still on him and then it would snowball from there. while smarter people would learn to stop doing what doesn't work and gets you hurt or in trouble, jake and the coaching staff panicked and tried to just keep working at it hoping it would work itself out.

it never did.

I know I'm changing the subject a little, but I truly believe that if the draft was help today Hardy would go ahead of JPP.

Maybe based on preseason performance, yes. We are not in a rush to start JPP. The Panthers really had no choice but to start Hardy. He has shown some very good skills in preseason, but there are some potential durability issues with him. In terms of upside, JPP probably has the highest ceiling of any pass rusher in the '10 draft. There is a reason why the Giants drafted him in the first round after only starting 7 games in a D-1 school. He is VERY raw. His athleticism is unheard of for a guy of his size, and he has a huge motor. I for one am excited to see our "NASCAR" defensive package which sets all four of our big pass rushers including JPP, Kiwanuka, Tuck and Umenyiora all on the D-Line.

I read somewhere the Panthers had a brand new D-Line that didn't have any starters playing last season, one which I assumed to be Hardy. My mistake. Who are your starting DEs?

That's kind of a trick question, the D-line is going to see a lot of rotation. Everyone should get plenty of snaps.

But on the depth chart it's Johnson @ LE and Brayton @ RE.

End of the year? that's far from a guarantee it usually takes two years if not more to develop a defensive lineman especially one as raw as Pierre Paul (if they ever develop) also Joseph looked awful i saw pre-season action of him getting manhandled by third string offensive linemen (guys that don't make nfl teams)

Linval looked really good in the preseason as a rookie DT and got a big push most of the time against the 1's. He seemed to have some fatigue issues, but the full rotation wasn't playing more than 1 quarter.

also (from the guy before) Corey Webster is definitely above average (played lights out in the 2007 post season and got snubbed in 2008 for the probowl) as a CB and Terrell Thomas was our best defensive player last year.
