Cool, overpriced items

For a good set of headphones with excellent sound quality and a lot price tag check out Sennheiser. I'm currently rocking the HD212Pro series and I love them. The bass is amazing, the volume is incredible, the highs are crisp. I've had mine for 5 years. If they ever short out you can just by a new cord for them on ebay. When I bought them originally they were 20 bucks.

As for smart phones, I find that having internet access and GPS in my pocket at all times is incredibly valuable. Do I wish plans were cheaper, yes, but it is still worth my money. Having a computer/phone/mp3 player/GPS/camera/wireless hotspot/handheld gaming device that can fit in my pocket is pretty awesome in my opinion.

On a family plan, paying $30 + per phone? Nope, not anymore.

After watching the Book of Eli, I really wanted a pair of those headphones he had. But I couldn't find anything on them. Then, a guy in one of my classes has a pair. Said they are the best headphones he has ever used and that they never come out. They are Beats by Dr. Dre. So, I asked him how much they are...$180 at Best Buy. WTF?! $180?! REALLY?! I would buy a pair TOMORROW if they were $20-$30 because my current earbuds come out while walking, let alone running.

So, this thread is dedicated to great items, whatever they may be, that are severely overpriced.

Grado SR60i my friend. 80 bucks far better in the mids, highs. Can pump out Bass if you want. They aren't full cups though.

I still don't agree.

I might take the time to compare them to the prices of equivalent hardware when they came out later, but as a general rule, if you're building a $2000 PC you're going overboard.

Minus a monitor the price can be pretty low. If you already have a capable case (I used a 1994 Gateway case for the longest time) then you're even further ahead of the curve. Hell, I still have the power supply I used on my last build (3 years ago).

If you want to start from the ground up, then count in a nice 720p TV along with the console.

When it comes down to it, the PC is a much more flexible platform that gives you more options and control as you can do... well... anything to it. You could create your own operating system or just post on this website, or you could play games.

Consoles offer a much more fluid gaming experience but that's pretty much it. Certain games also play better on consoles due to both this and their focus on controllers (games on consoles are focused around the controller which is better for some types of games).

The best advice? If you can afford a decent gaming PC and a console, get both.

Something else to consider is the amount of time it takes to optimize your PC. Unless it's a very simple, non-graphics intensive game then it takes a fair amount of time fuging around with settings in order to get the game running and looking right. Console, just pop in the disc and you're playing in seconds.

Thanks for reminding me how stupid a lot of that movie was. Civilization has been gone long enough for nearly everyone to forget about the Bible and all the copies of it, but there's still plenty of gas, guns, ammo and, oh yea, a working MP3 player + headphones.

An argument I've heard concerning the same thing was "Religion is not a necessity". Which, with that logic, neither is an MP3 player.

Do not buy console video games full price. Get a Gamefly account. It's the best thing since DVR's (which was the best thing since sliced bread).

If my Xbox didn't screw up, I'd get a gamefly account because how many times do you play games over? Once, maybe twice after you've beat everything else you own. The only games worth buying and keeping for years are sports titles, since you never really "beat it". And even then, every year there is a new one.
