Panthers offense just can't be as bad as it has looked

Lets see who we had picking up blitzes during the preseason. Savage, Vaughan. Never blocked a day in their lives. And who were the WRs reading these blitzes and shortening or altering their routes accordingly? 3 rookies and special Ed.

Come on. It will get better. Charly Martin and Steve Smith (not synonymous i know) will make us better. Martin will be the surprise of the offense. THese words need marking.

Ah, so to be a 11 win team during the regular season, you have to win 6 preseason games.

That article sucked =/

It proved one thing:

The preseason really does mean nothing-no matter which way you try to spin it.

Ha no that's not what the article is saying. It is surmising that the preseason is a predictive variable for the regular season. Not THE predictive variable but a predictive variable.

And in the aggregate not for any one team. So all the teams that went 0-4 should do worse on average than the teams that went 1-3.

The problem is that he used only 3 years of data. i would be willing to bet money that if he used 20 years of data the correlation would be much more clear. The anomaly for 4-0 teams would dissapear.

So yes there is a definite correlation.

I think it would be interesting to try and capture 20 or 30 (or 100) variables that determine a team's record and run a regression. SoS, preseason record, age of team, when is the bye week, do they play in a dome, do they have a veteran QB, etc etc etc.

I bet someone has done this. And I wonder if they are making money off of it.
