Panthers are not up to the challenge of scoring points

The thing that kills me is that he honestly believes he knows what is going to happen. No one does, "expert picks" are fun to read but honestly. Think about it.

Jerome Bettis has us having the worst record in the NFL.

Then you have the guys in the middle, Mike and Mike have us around 7-9 and 6-10 I think.

Peter King has Fox Coach of the Year and us a wild card team.

And lastly, to beat it all, Kerry Byrne on SI has us winning the division and losing to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game. (of these lets hope his crystal ball has the freshest batteries).

What I'm trying to say is lets just chill and not worry what everyone says, surprises happen every year in the NFL. I'm just ready for SUNDAY!

Last night on NFL Network, Trent Green also picked the Panthers as his surprise playoff team.

He said that Moore was a very good QB....and I respect ex-QB's alot more than the talking heads on evaluating Moore. They know what to look for and not look for when evaluating them.

Nostra Dumbass and his crystal balls is dabbling in the tea leaves again. He is all into the preseason Kool Aid. Maybe his observations are right, but he is basing them on 4 meaningless games. Predicting the future in a newspaper that highlights yesterday's news.

He is a creature of hype, trying to make it seem objective. He used to grade the Panthers by position. Nearly everyone got As when they won, Ds and Fs when they lost. A true football mind knows that the outcome of a football game is usually determined by 2-3 plays.

So he watches Hard Knocks and drinks the Jets' self-promoting Kool Aid. He reads that America's team is the team of destiny, headed to the first super bowl with a home-field advantage so Jerry Jones can watch himself hoist the Lombardi Trophy on his 2 acre Jumbo Tron.

Really Fowler? Who is Dallas' left T? What were Sanchez's numbers last year? After all the years you have spent in journalism, do you really think you can buy a team? Who were the last Super Bowl winners who won with a ton of free agent signings on the roster?

We had 4 boring preseason games and Fowler is ready to deliver his verdict. Not smart, but with limited knowledge of what is going on, predicition is safe because nobody expects you to be right.

Give me Sorenson and send the rest back to Boone or Chapel Hill to write for their college papers.

when i say veteran presence i mean when he gets into the regular season, recognizing exotic blitzes, making his checks and other things that come with experience.

Explain how Matt Moore did those things better than Delhomme then.

i didnt say he did those things better than delhomme. lets see him do it for a season, where he is the regular starter not a relief pitcher. tom and scott at charlotte observer both think he is a enigma. i do to. i want to see him for a full game against teams like the steelers, ravens.

what i dont get is how some people brush off the offensive woes (only team to not score a offensive td in 14 years:puke:), saying its just preseason, but then turn around and anoint the defense in that same preseason.

I am not brushing off the preseason. It does have me concerned. However, I am waitign to see the team in reg season action, with all of its weapons, before I decide whether we are in trouble or not.

I am concerned....just not overly worried yet.

I'm not a Fowler fan, but I'll give him a pass on this one because his assignment was to take a pessimistic view.

Having said that, using the preseason to judge how our offense will perform during the regular season when we're throwing the ball 64% of the time with no game planning and no Smitty is assinine.

as much as we hated delhomme last year for his play, he was a veteran presence at the qb position. you cant deny that even though he made some boneheaded plays, he made some plays that he shouldnt have that were great. what would be interesting is to follow his progress with the browns and matt progress.

Like what? I loved Jake, no homo, but the way he played last year was terrible. He lost the Philly game for us, He tried to lose at Tampa, he lost us the Buffalo game, and he lost us the game against the Jets. He turned the ball over way too much especially for a veteran. Our offense just needs the QB to make good decisions and not turn the ball over, he doesn't have to throw for 300 yards and 3 TD's for us to win.

I don't care about much of that column but what's up with both Fowler and Sorenson saying the Cowboys are going to the superbowl? Am I missing something here? Did they do something great during the preseason or is this simply based on the fact that the superbowl is in their stadium?
