Panthers are not up to the challenge of scoring points

(By Scott Fowler, [email protected]) If you think the Carolina Panthers are a team in major transition, you're absolutely right.p/By the end of the season they are about to embark upon, they are going to win a couple of games thanks to players you've barely heard of and lose a couple of games because Julius Peppers and Jake Delhomme are no longer employed here.

I don't buy in.

People say it's a result of the preseason for almost any bad play, but in this case it really is. With our 1st team in, we passed more than we ever would in a real game. Smith was out, Stewart was out, and Williams got minimum reps. Members of the O-line were (are) also missing.

Many sub-par WRs were rotated in and out of basic lineups just to get enough reps to see everyone in gametime. People are worried about out 2nd WR option, but in reality the TE position didn't see much action preseason and our TEs combined with smith and any one of our RBs as an option should be enough to cover as long as our 2nd WR "committee" manages to catch 5-8 balls a game. Our other options should cover the rest. I think we might see a lot more of our RBs coming out of the backfield this season.

HAHAHA lose a couple of games because jake is no longer here, we'd loose more games if jake were still here.

Not a fan of Fowler's asshole tone when he writes. Also, I'm not picking up what he's putting down. We had no problem scoring points last year and the only people we are missing on offense are Moose, Vincent, Delhomme and Hoover. We improved over Delhomme, stayed pretty steady at Vincent's spot and Hoover's, and took a small step backwards from Moose. We also threw the ball a lot more in the preseason than we ever will in the regular season in an attempt to get our receivers reps. Once we get back to our roots running the football, the O-line will dominate and Double Trouble will have their way. Suck it Fowler.

The thing that kills me is that he honestly believes he knows what is going to happen. No one does, "expert picks" are fun to read but honestly. Think about it.

Jerome Bettis has us having the worst record in the NFL.

Then you have the guys in the middle, Mike and Mike have us around 7-9 and 6-10 I think.

Peter King has Fox Coach of the Year and us a wild card team.

And lastly, to beat it all, Kerry Byrne on SI has us winning the division and losing to Green Bay in the NFC Championship game. (of these lets hope his crystal ball has the freshest batteries).

What I'm trying to say is lets just chill and not worry what everyone says, surprises happen every year in the NFL. I'm just ready for SUNDAY!

We scored 41 against them last year by running for almost 300 yards. Anyone who doubts our ability to put up points on this team is wrong.

Anyone see that Falcons homer Dukes say that "this is just another preseason game for NY"? Just more proof he has no business being in his field of employment.

what did he say that was so outlandish? this team is a unknown. we have a idea of how matt moore will play, but we dont know for sure how he will be in a full regular season as the starter. People forget this is a very young team. we will take our bumps, especially early even with a weaker schedule.

I still think we have to get past just a rudimentary passing game to have sustained success.

The part about Delhomme helping to win games. I guess he skipped last season when Delhomme single handedly lost numerous ones without winning a single one.

as much as we hated delhomme last year for his play, he was a veteran presence at the qb position. you cant deny that even though he made some boneheaded plays, he made some plays that he shouldnt have that were great. what would be interesting is to follow his progress with the browns and matt progress.
