Smith being voted captain shows you how few leaders we have on offense. I think Williams is much more of a leader then Smith is.

You're right, his name should have been in the discussion as well. Who knows, it might've been. Williams is a positive guy who has earned the respect of the team with his actions on and off the field (one would think).

Maybe we're already seeing a more mature Captain Smith:

I would have been surprised if it was Moore. Other than Steve Smith, I think the only viable candidates on offense were Gross or Williams.

Williams really? sounds like a slap in Smith's face if he's not a caption. Being here longer and a voice of the team doesn't sound like caption material? His emotion is something I wish all the players had.
