TO says there is a double standard between him and Favre

"Had it been one of us doing some of the same things, pulling these stunts that Brett Favre has done the last two or three years, then we would be labeled 'not a team player,' 'selfish,' and these are times where you want your guys to be in camp, bonding with your teammates, learning the plays, going through the whole team concept just like everybody else," Owens said, via our friends at CSNPhilly.com. "And now it's like, yeah, he's set himself above team standards."

What do you guys think? Is Favre getting a pass?

I don't agree that there is a double standard. For the most part, Favre has behaved much better throughout his career than Owens has. If Brett had worn a Chicago Bears jersey to a Green Bay/Chicago game, or said during the season, that he made a mistake by going to Minnesota, or any of the other numerous stupid things that Owens has said or done, his treatment would be much worse.

There's a reason T.O. is labeled "selfish" and "not a team player" and it has nothing to do with Favre.

Favre hasn't really gotten a pass. He's been one of the most ridiculed players in the league ever since he started straddling the fence about retirement. Sure some people still praise him, and yes, teams still wanted him (the Jets and Vikings) because he can play. Which is exactly why T.O. keeps latching on with teams despite all of the baggage that comes with him. In that sense, they both get a pass.

The only real difference I see is when things go bad for the team, T.O. begins pointing fingers and becoming a distraction. Favre doesn't really point fingers or become a distraction (by his own doing) until the offseason.

T.O. has earned his label and so has Favre

Pretty much sums it up.

The both of them have gained their "supposed" reputations; because of their actions.

T.O's labeled as a selfish, not very team-player friendly. While Favre is equally selfish, but his actions are rarely (if ever) heard "during" the season.

So all in all, yes. There is a Double Standard for Favre, but for T.O to call anyone out on their selfishness, is the typical Pot Calling Kettle Black analogy.

They're both ghey.

    • Bryce has been in the NFL 3 years and still looks like a very mediocre QB. Most games are nothing but mediocre plays with a highlight reel every now and then.  He is a very INCONSISTENT QB and it’s very fustrating. He does not deserve a 5th year option, even though the Panthers and all the dumb asses in the front office will give it to him.
    • I’ve rarely ever been more sure of anything than losing out — but how can anyone say with a straight face “Bryce hasn’t improved, but Canales has and he’s masks his flaws”. You have to be so out of touch with reality to put one way above the other when discussing those two.
    • Last night was the classic example of a visiting team just holding on through the wave of emotion a home team has at the start of a big time game. Bama’s first two kickoff returns really set them back as far as playcalling and allowed OU to dictate field position. The emotion of the home crowd fed into what OU was doing at that point, and it felt like Bama would not be able to overcome that.     Once the kickoff returner was told to fair catch every kick, the game shifted, as Bama wasn’t starting each drive inside their own 15. It was then that Bama was able to make some plays, outscoring OU 34-7 the rest of the way.  I think the last 3/4 of the game proves Bama was the better team. OU was just able to ride the initial wave of emotion to a big lead, but Bama held on just enough.  However, had OU blocked the punt on Bama’s second drive and scored a TD (vice a FG on the ensuing drive), things likely would have been different.  Anyway, Roll Tide!
