DJ finally gets his chance.

top dawg

I think it's misleading to say he's finally getting his chance. Every player on the team gets a chance, it's called practice. It's the reason Tyrell Sutton sees more action than Goodson and the reason Captain Munnerlyn played so much last year.

The fact he was a high draft pick means he probably has been given more chances than others, he just hasn't done anything with those chances (one decent game against the Saints backups in the regular season...). Now that the team is cutting payroll, Jarrett gets a chance to be a starter since the team refused to bring in an NFL Caliber starting WR.

This guy has to be one of the luckiest in the NFL and is repeatedly given chances you could argue he hasn't earned or deserves. At least Keary Colbert showed a flash which got his chances. Jarrett has shown basically nothing and now finds himself starting.

I hope DJ does great. That said, does anyone realize who the WR taken after DJ in the draft was?

The other Steve Smith.

Which means, yes, this could be DJs year (and honestly we ALL hope it is), but I like to sit and think:

WW2SSD?

What would two Steve Smith's do?

Oh well, we got Moore undrafted out of that season as well, so let's just pretend we drafted Moore and got DJ undrafted.

yes but the other side to the that coin is reports have been pretty consistant about Jarrett in practice. In practice, every year the guys who get to sit in on it say he looks very good. We just never see it on Sundays.

as far as Sundays in the NFL. When Jarrett has been on the field imo he hasn't looked bad. The number of passing downs he has played is just tiny.

I hear you, disagree with the Sutton Goodson thing considering Goodson got time last year but got injured. I think he'll see more time than Sutton this year cause of his ability to catch passes and return kicks. Or they might just be equal counting Sutton ST play

Problem is that we don't get to see him on Sundays. I wonder how a guy can look great in camp and then not get on the field come Sunday. Oh wait....Fox likes his vets and Moose was not going to sit.

Fox likes "his guys". That can be a vet like Jake or a young guy like Godfrey. There is enough to support that Fox is willing to keep better options on the bench when guys simply aren't getting it done on the field......as long as he likes you.

reports are Jarrett has looks strong in practice(going back a couple seasons now). The rare passing downs he has played in it is tough to say he looks as bad as people portray him on this message board. I don't think Jarrett fits here. I just don't think he is the hot garbage some choose to pretend he is.

The fact is he nor any other WR produced this preseason. Call him ok,good,or great if you want but the fact still remains no one was getting open. Yea Smith might come in and help that and our run game may as well but it still dose not take away the fact that NONE of our WRs can get it done at this point. At this point I think the competition is still open on who get the #2 spot and it could go from Jarrett to Gettis cause you cant make me believe that Jarrett has outplayed anyone. Nor has anyone out played Jarrett.
