I dunno, I don't know nothin' about nothin' but to me it makes the most logical sense.

9/11 was a huge flashy neon sign statement.

Renting an apartment in the John Hancock tower in my hometown, filling it full of nasty stuff, then remote detonating it with a long distance phonecall seems waaaaay easy and almost as flashy.

Same goes for walking in to a school playground or driving past an important monument.

Hell, even a crowded post office.

I guess what I'm saying is, lots of other countries have dealt with more concerted, long term domestic terrorism for a long time. England and Israel jump to mind right away.

Don't know if we would. We seem to take safety and security coupled with comparative freedom for granted here, since we get the random oddball McVeigh thing rather infrequently.
