What is really wrong with our offense?

Myself and many others have been fixiated on our lack of WR.While I still think we need a legitimate number 2 WR the problems run nuch deeper

32 in total offense

32 in yards per play

28 in penalties

25 in penalty yards

32 points

28 in fumbles (tied with 2 others)

32 passing % for starter

42 Running backs yardage(Mike Goodson)

54 recievers( David Gettis)Kenny Moore was 64

31 sacks allowed Tied with two others

Point :We suck in running, passing, penalities.sacks allowed and to many stats to mention. The good news it is only preseason and doesnt mean a thing.

What baffles me most is what happened to our OL?

Then the BOLD part!

Why say all the stuff before it if you are going to end it the way you did????

Fox puts the least emphasis on preseason than any coach in the league. As secretive as he is with the media, its more so in the preseason. They are not interested in marching down the field and scoring. They are more interested in calling a play to see which individuals need help or excel in which schemes. There are no audibles. Go out there, run the play you were told no matter what the defense you get.

In short, there may be a problem with the offense, there may not be. Scored plenty of points last preseason, then Delhomme shatted 4 INTs in the opener.

Lets all wait until at least Sunday night before we worry about the offense.

I've mentioned Moore looking like he was just staring people down several times, something he didn't do last year. I strongly suspect that he was, and it was because he was specifically told who to throw to.

What I really don't understand is the poor line play. That's something that should work, game-planning or not.

The most we scored in a game last year in preseason was 17 points. I think you got into my kool-aid or something.

In addition to the excellent points brought forth by the one they call "Zod," I offer these:

We play Pittsburgh and Baltimore during the regular season. Were very vanilla in those games.

We had to have thrown in the Wildcat formation just to give the Giants et al. something elso to gameplan for. This is evidence of how they are thinking right now.

Fox's number one concern: injuries. How many other teams faced top defenses with the first team offense while featuring RBs like Vaughan and Savage, players who couldn't pick up a blitz if it had a handle?

I will say one thing though. If this is Fox's philosophy, Davidson bought into it big time. Even if it is just practice, the O needed game-situation reps. At least try to move the ball. His play calling was pathetic, even for practice.

This may be one year we are thankful for 4 preseason games. By the way, who is going to be our slot WR?

I am not so sure QB coach Rick Sherer (sp?) is a great coach. Delhomme sure sucked while he was here.

Secondly, the line probably needs to gameplan more than any other offensive unit. RBs not picking up blocks made them look worse than they were. RG is my only concern, and I think Schwartz will be the guy a few weeks after Otah returns. There were times when they (RBs) "looked like a bunch of retards trying to hump a doorknob." -In memory of Patches, Dodgeball.
