A little perspective regarding Mr. Richardson

I read once in an article that Jerry said that owning a NFL team was a lifelong dream of his. That being the case I can't imagine that winning a superbowl would not be the culmination of this dream. Jerry is obviously not long for this world and I have a very difficult time believing that he would adamantly forgo any opportunity to make a run at the big game for the purposes of amassing as much money as humanly possible for the purpose of passing it down to his kids. (You know the ones that he fired) I understand that he does care about his reputation with the owners and may plan to leave his mark on the NFL as a whole through the new negotiations of the CBA. But taking all of these things into consideration it still seems unfathomable to me that a man is his place would not want a ring before he passes on. And a man is his position can't count on "we'll get'em next year". Just my opinion.

Winning a super bowl comes second to the future of the NFL and the Panther's (but mainly the NFL). Of course he wants a ring but what's more important is him being involved in a 'noble cause' which is great but a big f**k you to PSL owners IMO.

People fail to realize that he has to protect the integrity of his business, which fans often forget is the Panthers. He has to make decisions that include the big picture, not just the 2010 season. Sometimes you have to make short term sacrifices for long term gains. Not only for financial reason but for the good of the team, the league and even the sport.

Do I like being so frugal and passing on talent that would obviously benefit us? No, but I understand it. If things work out we'll be in great shape on the other side of this thing.

Personally I'm glad we have an owner like JR that builds slowly, the right way and doesn't just carelessly throw money around like some if the owners we all make fun of: see Dan Snyder.

Is winning important to him? Undoubtedly, but not at all costs. We still have a TON of talent on the roster, we just don't have many expensive big names like TJ, Haynesworth, Peppers, etc.

Don't you guys get it? Jerry Richardson's ultimate loyalty lies with the NFL, not the Panthers. If the league convinced him that it was in the best interest of the league to not spend any money and throw away a season, you can bet your ass that's what he would do. There have been a number of articles documenting his almost unhealthy obsession with the league. There's a reason why he's so stubborn with that damn NFL shield logo in the middel of the field. The NFL is his god. Nothing comes before it, not even his $1 billion team.

There is an irony here...Mills was one of the closest team players JR has ever had, they respected eachother deeply. JR is noticeably proud of his NFL career, he has a ton o' Colts/Richardson memoribilia in his office, "Suite 87" and his personal suite...I'd suspect his home and office at home (I know his BOA office) are replicates. Now to say he'd trash his team for the NFL brings two major questions to my mind. You must forgive me stating that I am neither a walkin' stat wikopeedia, nor a formation guru, just a Panther football TEAM lover!

Question #1: If you think an owner of a team who trashed more records in the time period we did, is anything less significant because of the NFL logo on the friggin' grass then WTH is Panther football about?

Question #2: If people feel like Jerry Richardson is the problem and not the core here, then who is? (Note: I said core " a central and often foundational part.." Merriam-Webster Dictionary

This game is lost in the definition..game! JR is certainly part of the issue, I do not deny that, but I would no longer think that he would intend that his team "throw" a game for the NFL as I would think that the NFL would ask it of any owner!

His "god", as you rightly put it, is success! He's proven it, lives it and has the credentials not one person here could excell I'd assume. The losses are oft inexcusible, but go through a life like JR has gone through and who here would look him straight in the face and call him a loser, NFL whimp, brain dead or sell out?

1. Your post literally doesn't make sense. I tried reading it and you're all over the place with whatever your point or points are.

2. Someone with a picture of themselves posing with Jerry Richardson isn't exactly an unbiased person when it comes to talking about Jerry Richardson, are they?

1. I had no problem with it

2. What does that have to do with anything?

3. I think you're completely wrong and just trying to make a point. If you're not careful you develop a reputation for such...,oh wait, too late.

Your accusation makes even less sense, but a lot of ignorance! Further, if you do not understand it, that's your problem, not mine.

To accuse me of being a JR kiss ass because I had my photo with him is pure BS too!

This is all I have to say, because I made a simple challenge you ass...say what you had to say to his face...he's out there almost every Sunday at BOA...introduce yourself to him and he'll take a photo with you...if you haver the balls! Tell him what you think or STFU!

IMHO, It's all about politics right now, seeing as where JR sits on the collective bargaining agreement seat. I mean, does the Panthers brass really expect us to think our WR corp is good enough to help win a Super Bowl? Most fans will tell you it probably isn't, and I can't imagine the FO doesn't at least feel the same way on the inside a little bit.

So fine, we're going young. Great. Part of our talented squad is in a rebuilding mode. Great. Just come out and say that and it'll ease a lot of tension with the fans. Don't BS us by saying your product is good enough when it more than likely isn't. If mid-season comes around, and Smitty is out of gas from the double teams and trying to get open, we'll all look back and say we had the chance to get at least ONE solid free agent (WR for example). Just one. Not eight new FAs that cost us millions, just...one. But you won't even try and get ONE?

This small task (signing ONE solid FA) means one of two things: politics and JR trying to make a point to his fellow owners, or you're rebuilding but don't have the guts to say so. "Going young" may mean that, but that isn't always the case. Look, the NFL is about RIGHT NOW, not about what these youngins will be like in 2-3 seasons. If you don't want to go for it this season, just tell us. Well thank you. Otherwise, we can only believe you are 100% behind your product when your product is not the best.

Please, as a fan, I want the best just once. I trust Smitty, Double Trouble, our DBs, our LBs, our TEs, and even Moore. I'm even starting to trust or D-Line. What I don't trust is the rest of the WR core. I think this is about much more than you thinking we'll be fine in that respect. There's definitely something amiss.

Remember Richardson is a Business man. All he is doing right now is securing the team for a rough ride if there is a lockout. No games means no income he needs to make sure that he has enough money that he doesnt lose the team. If there is a lockout and they dont play football next season I really doubt they will charge the PSL owners for season tickets. But with all that said he will do one more push after all of this and try to win a championship. I figure after the lockout we will be one of the highest spending teams in the league like we have been in the past.
