Pike = Troy Smith?

This is an absurd comparison. Smith was a highly mobile QB with decent passing skills in a run option offense. Pike is s very good passer who comes out of a spread offense. Pike is far less a project than Smith and could develop into a good QB. If he does we either have a good back up or great trade equity.

As for how long he gets to adjust to a pro style offense? That should depend on his progress, not a predetermined timeline.

dude, i'm not comparing the two based on skillset. obviously they aren't similar. i'm just commenting on the fact that they are both project quarterbacks and the ravens gave up on theirs.

project quarterbacks rarely work and at a time when our #1 and #2 QB's are projects, why have #3 project as well. we're a perfect team for an experienced #3 to help mold these guys. pike has NOTHING to offer moore or clausen at all and if anything, will only take time away from them. every minute of practice spent developing pike is a minute not spent on moore or clausen.

dude Pike isnt a project

a project is someone who you plan to develop into a starter

do you really think that the Panthers drafted Pike with plans to make him a starter after drafting Jimmy?

He was drafted to be a backup. To be insurance. Nobody plans on developing him into a starter. He wasnt drafted to "work". TD Jimmy is the future. And id rather have Pike as the number 3 than Cantwell

even developing pike into a backup is a "project".
