Is Matt Jones worth a flier?

True. You know who i want if we are gonna do it? Torry Holt. Guy is a all time great and could teach the kids somethings. Bring Torry home. If we did that i would cut Charly. I am starting to think SMith is not the nurturing mentor type. I think he leads by example but don't see him as being as patient as Holt might. Holt has a football camp in NC so it's not a huge stretch.

Why do people go through the bargain bins filled with bad knees, bad attitudes, and rap sheets? It's not worth the effort. Let our young guys work. We have our WR corp.

1. Smitty - Duh

2. Jarrett - Not much money invested but lots of time. Whats one more season?

3. AE - Is not going anywhere.

4. Brandon Lefell - High pick, high expectations.

5. David Gettis - Worth the risk. Cheap.

6. Charly Martin - Special teams

There. No need to add someone that will hinder the development of our youth.

Methinks the same.

I agree, but then part of me thinks that if someone does come open who can occupy the spot nicely for a year, and seal up the last questionable spot on the team, would it not be foolish not to sign him?

LaFell could be great, or he could suck and drop everything that comes his way.

We just don't know.

Don't know how much Holt has left in the tank.

I see your point about letting the young guys get some work, but the two aren't mutually exclusive. With a defense that looks like it's going to be special, Steve Smith getting on in years, the best RB group in the NFL, a seemingly capable Matt Moore (and a boy wonder at back-up), this is not a year that I just want to throw seeds up in the wind and hope they fall in the right place and grow. This is the reason why I would like a dependable WR2.

Now, I'm not saying that MJ is that guy. Holt might work. Someone who actually has some quality playing time would make me feel a whole lot better.

Now, Varking says Jones ain't that guy (though every time I've seen him he has done nothing but produce), I may just have to take his word for it But give me somebody to hang my hopes on (the same as in the kicking game). Otherwise i will just have to live with holding my breath, even more, every time that the football flies through the air.
