Report: 4 teams make trade offers for Housh

Houshmandzadeh

Joe Reedy of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that four teams -- the Vikings, Jets, Cardinals, and Chargers -- have trade offers on the table for T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Reedy is an excellent beat reporter, but we'd caution that the source for this story may be a Seattle front office member (or Houshmandzadeh's agent) in an attempt to create a market for the 33-year-old receiver. The Cardinals and Jets definitely don't need another wideout, the Minneapolis Star-Tribune has reported -- citing several sources -- that the Vikings do not have interest, and the Chargers just acquired Patrick Crayton. Adding in the Redskins or Raiders would've made the story sound more realistic. Sep. 4 - 12:14 am et

Do I want him? Of course, I think he'd be a HUGE addition, but just look at what's happened over the last few months.

We're getting younger - he's 33

We're dumping salaries - he's expensive

We're preparing for lock out

We drafted 3 WR's

None of the staff is signed beyond this season

Run based O

What about any of thar above suggests we'll "take a look" when he gets cut? We didn't give a 7th for Crayton.

This boils down to common sense, by signing TJ they go against everything they've done this offseason.

It's not going to happen, give it a rest.

And it may not happen all good points

But even penny pinching Richardson has to see with his own eyes

How great his defense is going to be

How great his running game is going to be

How reliable Kassays kicking is

How great his O- Line is

Question with experienced QB's

M A J O R question at #2 WR

**Lock out is next season **

**Youth is for the future**

Housh may want to play in this offense for one season and make a push for Super Bowl

Housh may cut Panthers $$$ deal

with Sea Chickens picking up the biggest part

The addition of a strong #2 W R would fix alot of Richardson's questions

His young QB's would be loaded with weapons

making their job a little easier and helping them mature

Will it Happen I also don't think so

B/C it's the best move and Richardson has almost always not made the best move in F/A

Prefering to shop at K Mart instead

no.

btw...i don't know that he will be expensive. if he gets cut, he's getting at least $7mil regardless. very little chance that any team is going to want to give him more. that means that they can give him the vet min this year and seattle can pick up the rest of it.

long term he could be expensive but i don't think that he will be getting a contract anywhere near the size and length of what he got with seattle.

still, i don't think that we would be near the top of the list of teams he's want to play for. too many question marks. i also don't think that we will pick him up but i do think we are probably closer to doing that than at any point this year. they know we don't have crap besides smith on that roster.

It seems the reality that winning has taken a back seat to prepping for the lock out and being in great shape on the other side of it. Moose would have been fine as the 2nd this year, but he was I over 30 and let go.

Jerry isn't going to invest in TJ and while there will be some relief in the 7 mike he's owes from Seattle there's still going to be a market for him, which means bidding.

Who know what TJ's motivation is. If he was really looking for the Lombardi do you think he would ha e gone to Seattle in the first place? Oh by the way, they happened to be the highest bidder.

Again, we just invested 3 draft picks in WR. TJ is NOT coming to Carolina, mainly because we won't ask him to- nevermind the rest of it.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see T.J. Houshmandzadeh land here and play opposite of Steve Smith, just as much as anyone else would love to see him play here. But even knowing how our Front Office is, you people still seem to think there's a possibility of this guy landing here. I just don't see it...

And for that matter, why don't you guys have a little more faith in our players? They're young and inexperienced, yes... but the talent is there and all it'll take is a few weeks for them to see what the NFL is all about. I'm not ready to jump ship yet. I just won't abandon my team like that. Regardless of who is or isn't playing on Sept. 12th, my ass will be planted in a couch, watching and rooting for my Panthers!!!

i don't know that the talent is here. potential talent? yes...but these guys have done nothing to instill confidence that they can?will reach that potential. waiting until they can prove their worth before you feel good about them isn't jumping ship on the team or anything silly like that.

i seriously doubt for several reasons that housh will make it to carolina but it is something that makes a lot of sense to try and make happen, just like boldin did.

the guys we have that aren't smith just aren't ready for the job yet. why pretend that they are? i can see the long term benefits of giving them the reps but who knows if that is going to work out? that's what they were hoping with colbert and jarrett. considering the track record i don't have a whole lot of confidence in our ability to spot and develop WR talent. tolbert might change things down the road but i haven't seen anything to make me believe that somehow we are going to find a respectable WR to put on the other side of smith without going after a housh-type player.

We won't get him.

This all has to do with JR being the lead man in the lockout talks. It has nothing to do with his price tag (some say Seattle will pay most of the 7m...not to mention we can afford him anyway), or his age (he's a year older than Smitty), or that we're trying to "go young" (that's just crap), or that he wouldn't work here (he runs routes and blocks just like Moose did). JR has to prove a point to the league and his fellow owners by not spending and is simply being stubborn. If our young crop of WRs don't pan out by mid-season, and we look back and see that we had many chances for a solid #2, he ends up looking like a damn fool. This is all politics and it shows fans come second to him. But hell, he knows we'll keep coming anyway and paying for his product no matter what it is, so he will always sit pretty.

This is all my opinion.
