Is it fairly obvious to anyone else....

You guys are retarded.

Theres no doubt that he will be on the 53 man roster. The question is whether he will be "active" on game days.

I don't think anyone is arguing that he will or won't be on the roster.....just whether his production and play warrants it.

If he were a late round pick or and UDFA, would he make the squad based on what he has shown? Personally, I really don't think he would.

They have a 2nd rd pick invested in him. There is no way that ANY team would cut bait on a high draft pick after 4 preseason games.

If you were refering to me I never said Edwards would get cut. My point was a simple as he's done little to earn a spot on the 53 man roster though he will end up making it. There's too much capital tied up into Edwards for the staff to think about cutting him. Again, he won't have earned a spot as he will be GIVEN a spot.

Of course he will make the roster because of the rediculous price we paid to draft him. I'm not arguing that point. I just don't think he deserves to tie up a roster spot yet.

That the "Mountaineer" formation last night was more about selling the remaining tickets the Panthers have been desperately roadblocking on their website for a month and less about actual football?

lol @ pandering to the local alumni so much. Its the mountaineer formation! Please please please buy tix.

They named the formation Tiger back when Williams did it so I don't think that's really true. Your looking too far into it. I think they were just experimenting.

Seeing how aggressively they drafted him they probably had this in mind for him all along.

I am not buying the ticket selling thing..a couple of years ago the panthers were scouting Pat white and looking at him a lot..(to me that shows the Panthers always had a ideal they wanted to use a wildcat type package)..now they have Edwards. When Hurney drafted him he referred to him as a offensive weapon not just a WR.

Its the 4th preseason game. why not see what he can do.I dont think there doing it to sell tickets

He's played a lot better at WR recently. Long way to go but it's encouraging enough that I think he's earned his spot. It's not like he has much competition.

I guess i am in the minority. I dug the fact that they used Armanti in a package. I also don't think he has been given a spot like ncbobcat says. They have made a conscious effort to get the ball in his hands. And he has done decent. Last night while the PIPE and NEVER Do WELL show was going on against the Steeler you telling me the Mountaineer Package was not welcome? I wanted to see more of AE towards the end when Pipe started his happy feet dance routine. I like the package. It gives opposing defenses something xtra to worry about. It shows some much needed creativity in the playcalling. It involves a high draft pick in the offense more directly. And lastly you throw our first team oline and Smith into that package and it could look very different. Quit your bitching and enjoy the season.

I think your grasping at straws to stir the pot here by assuming they named it the Mountaineer package to sell tickets? That is the most ridiculous assumption I have ever heard.

They named a version of the Wildcat the Tiger when Williams was running it, we must have been trying to sell tickets to those Memphis fans. Screw you Titans, all your tix are belong to us!.

The name makes sense, since, you know, the trigger man is a Mountaineer alum, plus the formation isn't a true wildcat but a modified version of the modified spread that ASU uses. I dunno, that might be it. Or maybe, we are trying to confuse some WVU fans into making the trip! Buy tickets WVU!!!

You guys are insane. Heres the deal.

No, Armanti Edwards did not warrant the second round pick that we traded to get him. Yes, the front office is stubborn and he will make the 53. No, the "mountaineer" package wasn't to sell tickets beyond the normal propaganda. Yes, Armanti has skills that have not yet translated to the NFL.

If he doesn't deserve a spot on the 53 due to his WR play, who has? It tells you something when AE looks the same as guys who have played WR for 5+ years and he has done it for 5 months.

I think people are getting butt hurt and assuming that posters are saying that Armanti has played better than Gettis or Lafell. I don't think anyone is making these assumptions. If they are, well... But more importantly has Armanti played comparable to Gettis and Lafell? I believe the answer to this is yes, so based on our current crop of wr roster hopefuls, I don't understand how anyone could not reasonably believe that Armanti has played well enough to make at least a 5th WR spot regardless of draft position. The kid has only been playing this position for a short while and he's playing comparable to any receiver we have outside of Steve Smith and you guys are bitching. Take the draft status blinders off people.
