Where would you rather live--Greensboro or Charlotte?

I lived in the Triad for about 8 years, so I know from experience when I say Greensboro SUCKS!!!!! Boring and depressing. I agree with Jangler that W-S is great when compared to Greensboro. Young people get out of school and then flee. Follow their lead.

In my head i planned to move to charlotte. lots of friends there, and im closer to the panthers

Trust me. Living 5 minutes away from Panthers stadium is quite possibly the best thing ever. Love driving by it to and seeing it lit up at night, even in the offseason.

I have lived in both Greensboro and Charlotte. Greensboro has gotten a little better over the years, but IMO is still an awful place to live, especially if you are a young professional. I enjoyed my mid 20's in Charlotte, lots of fun things to do, expect the summertime BLOWS (no beach). All in all I would say charlotte>greensboro... However, I think Raleigh is a pretty cool place to live if you want good job opportunities and want to stay in NC.

Greensboro.

You've got reasonable access to the Triangle, and its not impossible to commute the parts of Charlotte.

FWIW - I wouldn't live in Winston for anything less than seven figures.

The only thing Greensboro has over Winston is easy access to interstate. Other than that I would take Winston Salem.

Know to the OP depends on what you are looking for. If you want entertainment value go to Charlotte. If you want a little night life but not the hussle and bussle Winston Salem is nice. If you want trash and inferiority complex go to Greensboro.

i grew up in trinity, and spent a lot of time all over the triad. i liked the university area of G'boro for partying, but that was before going to UNCC. Greensboro has nothing on Charlotte. Followed work from there to Wilmington. It's alright, but if it weren't for the beach I wouldn't be able to get out of here fast enough. Still looking for work away from here too cuz in my opinion the lake > the beach. just how i grew up. lots of time on oak hollow, belews, high rock, badin, etc.

I think of W-S as the used up husk of a town that was left when the tobacco empires fell. The only thing left is the very rich and the very poor. What middle class there is left is trying to make W-S viable but its a losing battle.

This.

Good luck finding a perm IT job in Charlotte; It's contractors galore. I actually like living in GSO, but I'm a family man so what do I know. Besides my IT company just hired a group of people and are looking to move locations because we are out of space.

I love Wilmington, but I would love to live and work in downtown Charlotte, but only if I could do both, I wouldn't want to commute in and out of there.

I have no interest in Greensboro other than stopping at the mall on the way back from the mountains, although I do have some good teenage memories (ie. girls) of music camp at UNCG.

SE corner of norman is where I was. cornelius/huntersville. loved it.

if you're talking about 4 seasons in G'boro...i wouldn't stop there anymore. I was there a couple years back when visiting family at christmas. used to walk around that place hitting on girls and such, and it had gone far downhill at that point.

    • Super raw, not sure he is worth a top 10 pick.  Primary a pass rusher.  A bit like Burns, very fast athletic but doesnt always follow the play.  His highlights look good but when you watch him play you can see he is just raw and needs to develop
    • Personally, I am not sold on Bryce yet--and I do not think anyone is saying they are, but I don't think Ward is on table when we draft anyway.  Not even sure if I would rather have him than one of the later QBs.  I see a lot of potential in Allar, Nussmeire, Rourke, and even Hamilton from Ohio State--Milroe is intriguing, but I am not sure he is an NFL QB.  Ewers is that sleeper who falls and becomes a solid starter. I think that we sign a veteran who has played and we draft one of these project QBs. To your point:  With that in mind, I think you have to take QB off the table in round 1, and if Bryce can string 4-5 games like KC together, we still need to draft a QB in round three or so---I really think Rourke is a great fit for this offense--he is accurate and gets the ball out quickly---he impressed me vs OSU.   Reason?  I think we may have a tough decision to make about Bryce in 2 years--will he be worth $60m?  That decision is a lot easier if you have been grooming a backup for 2 years who can play. In round 1: I am hoping for PSU's edge Abdul Carter In round 2:  I would like to see us grab a DT who can rush the passer.  Walter Nolen of Ole Miss is versatile and a bit raw. I think he could be an excellent complement to Brown. In round 3:  I would love ILB Danny Stutsman from Oklahoma.  He is a beast. With 11 picks, I would package our 4th rounders to move up into the third round and take a QB.  At the moment, I think Rourke is trending upward and he has the skills Canales seems to want in a QB.  Quick processor, quick release. I would use the fifth rounders on OL.  I know that I left out WR--however, we are getting Thielen back, XL will be improved, Coker will be improved, and Moore has been surprisingly good.  Sanders (TE) has been more than expected in the passing game.  I think we need D more than WR, and maybe we can get a veteran WR to sign or find a hidden gem late.
    • Wouldn't be surprised if he starts a couple Jets games this year with the way the Rodgers thing is going. Giants fans are pissed they didn't keep him lol. He might actually have a little bit of a market.
