QB prediction

Maybe I'm a newb, but why would you resign someone just to trade him (unless you were guaranteed a great deal)? He only has one year left on his contract.

It will be

1.5 Moore

1.75 Clausen

3 Edwards

:)

Moore has no contract beyond this season.

Not happening during the season. Besides, the trade deadline is after week 6.
ok...i pulled that out of my butt without thinking through the details.

after some pondering, though, i have found a way.

moore is in his 4th season. under the old CBA, you can't slap the RFA tag on someone if they have had four or more years in the league. since the CBA is gone, that has moved up to less than 5 years. that means they could slap the RFA tag on him again if there isn't a CBA in force.

if they felt good about clausen taking over they could give moore the RFA tag on moore again, only this time putting a tender on him that someone would actually bite on. 3rd round tender would do it, i would think. would it be the vikes? who knows but it would make sense for them to do that, esp. if moore shows that he is a pretty decent QB this year.

I think it makes sense. There are people who've played their entire lives(high school, college) being excellent at WR and can't translate to the pros. Switching AE to receiver after he was an very capable QB seems like a tall order...not impossible but just impractical.

Allot is made of his athleticism but I believe he would be able to capitalize on it a lot more in a position where he is comfortable and skilled.

I just wish the FO thought the same before they drafted Pike
i'm wondering who would they have gotten instead?

brandon banks? went undrafted and picked up by the redskins. sure he broke one off for a TD but he's also had some fumbling issues. dude is tiny as they come. he might have been worth it, though, seeing what we have had so far this year.

blair white is someone i really wanted us to go after. big and tough possession with great hands. kind of eric decker lite. he actually might be hitting the practice squad as they have him as their 7th or 8th receiver. i would still love it if we went after him. would have been a better choice than tony pike at this point.

another that the colts picked up as a UDFA is brandon james. he's also at the bottom of the WR depth chart but he's also their main punt returner. probably would have been a better choice than pike as well.

oh well...hindsight 20/20....water under the bridge....you live and you learn (maybe).

i just can't wait to see what happens in the next week. i doubt we sit and do nothing.

Moore, Clausen, Edwards as a emergency qb, it benefits us in roster spots as well, we can keep another one of our "amazing" WR candidates lmao
or go and get an amazing one (housh).

i'm really liking this idea of edwards being the emergency QB, though. it makes a lot of sense.

he still has to be active on the game day roster so he can be used in different packages. if he isn't active then the only time he could come in is if neither moore or clausen were going to come back in the game.

Edwards can't be listed as the third quarterback for thew team and still come in to play wildcat-type packages. NFL rules dictate that if a third string quarterback is used in a game, the first string quarterback may not return to the game.

Better to keep Armanti listed as WR3, which is exactly why I believe Fox and Co. have set him up there rather than list him as a QB. It gives them options that neither Pike or Cantwell could have.

That rule doesn't apply in the 4th quarter.

If AE is the 3rd WR, the Panthers are fugged.

I see listing AE as the 3rd qb as a way to not impact the 45 man game day roster, while still getting AE some time on the field. He isn't going to help as a WR this year. Period.

I think he will the further we get into the season. He's got the ability.

Also, apparently Darin thinks we're speculating for no reason b/c I asked him what he thought the possibilities were of this scenario playing out.

Highly unlikely. RT @Proudiddy What do u think the possibilities are of cutting both Pike and Cantwell, and letting AE play WR/3rd QB?

CantPLAYwell is gone. Pike is on the PS. I agree with Moore-Clausen-Edwards

I am witchu! While Pike seemed a bit hard pressed to SEE his receivers or anyone open, he knew how to move and I forgot just how tall he is...Clawson is surely the weak link and should be heading out the door. Pike might become a surprise.

On Matt...I was asking myself, can he go in with the fire he had last game with the Jersey pig farmers? We have a chance to show how adversity can be our best friend.
