It's been hinted at in this thread and both parts have been discussed, but I haven't seen anyone say it, so I'll do it.

What if the trade was Housh for DJ.

Pete would love to see DJ again, and we could use a good #2. Without a salary cap, he's a great person to have while we 'develop' our rookies -- and still let them play. It's our way of staying competitive on our way to the 2013 Super Bowl. $7 mil never hurt anyone, especially if we sold out all the games!

if they trade him, the new team pays him whatever and his old contract is null and void?

if we release him, he can get picked up by whoever, negotiate a contract and we pay the difference?

i was talking about the trade...i still the Vikings will be his first choice. thats where he was almost signed before he signed with seattle

So that makes it doubtful that any team will trade for him, even a 7th rounder. If he's cut though, he should be a pretty hot commodity even at his age.

No, we'd still have to meet minimum requirements and there'd be more than just us interested so I doubt it'd even be at vet minimum that we could get him.
