Ok somebody explain to me why Belichick is still universally regarded as the no.1 HC

lol no it's not because that's pretty much what's happened

Actually a better time to bump it would have been when they fuging destroyed pittsburghs vaunted defense and that coach who is supposedly better than him in mike tomlin. But you're right, that doesn't count, neither does humiliating one of the other 2 teams with the best record in the league, nor having the best record in the AFC. The only one to talk about is the loss to the browns.

With Pats:

10 winning seasons out of 11 (9 out of the 10 are 10+ winning seasons), won the division 10 times, 14-5 playoff record, 4 conference championships, 4 Super Bowl appearances, 3 Super Bowl wins.

none of that helped them win today

Belichick foolishly goes one and done for the second year in a row in Foxboro

Which is, of course, irrelevant in regards to a discussion of who is the best coach in the NFL today. Such a standing is not graded upon one game. Rather, it is graded upon a track record.

Who has a better track record over the previous 10 years?

ok how about the even more embarrassing loss to the Ravens?

or getting outplayed by a lesser talented Giants team with heart in 2008?

how about dropping their third playoff game in a row?

how about being 2-3 in the playoffs since being caught cheating against the Jets?

keep slurping

so if it's not belichick who is the no.1 HC of the last 10 years?

thanks for recycling this argument in this thread for the 20th time

i'm not saying he isn't top 5 or top 3, but I think considering all the variables you can't just make him the undisputed head and shoulders above everyone no.1 HC. That's the misconception everyone perpetuates, "OMGZ cuz he won three ringzz"..... yea, i guess knowing your opponents' defensive signals from videotape doesn't help, neither does having rules invented on the fly for your QB in championship games that the former director of officiating himself doesn't even defend anymore

disqualify the "TEN YEARS" argument because it is unfair in comparison to coaches that are doing a better job than he is today that were hired less than ten years ago, and it's way too broad a timetable to make an accurate assumption. It's the same reason Jeff Fisher is overrated in this league

On any given Sunday, any coach can be the victor, can be better than Bill Belichick.

But week in, week out, he has dominated this game for a hell of a long time, and overall, he continues to. Is he leagues better than anyone else? No, of course not. The margin for error is too slim in this league. But he IS ahead of everyone else right now.

If your argument is there is no best head coach, that's fine... but if I had a good team and wanted a coach to take it and win a superbowl with it and had my pick of any coach still coaching now, it would be Bill Belichick I would call over anyone else.
