David Gettis..

Gettis isn't going to get cut.

I do want to know where Razzey grew up surrounded by 6' 4" people with 4.40, 40 yd speed.

, fugger, now I was surrounded by em. . Yes I grew up in Rancho Cucamonga and everyone was 6'6 and taller. .good protein enriched meat in Cucamonga, very tasty.

The only two points I was trying to make is this:

1) There are more fast tall people in the world than you think.

2) Not nearly enough of them have the desire and ambition to be a professional athlete. (and especially not football since its painful. . why not tennis)

2a) "Thats how I see it"

Again I think Gettis' speed and size are uncommon, but we will see his size and speed in at least 1 guy next year you would think right? I mean we usually hear of one guy that has "rare" physical abilities EVERY draft. Is it really "rare" then. It isnt to me and so I said so. If you disagree that's great, tell me why . . Id love to hear it and be convinced otherwise. If you act like a jackazz, then I will likely treat you like one . . .and have a lot of laughs doing it.

Edit: Oh ya and I hope he makes it, man, that dude just seems like he wants it.

http://www.tallpeople.net/wiki/What_Percentage_of_People_are_Shorter_Than_Me

94% of people are 6-1 or shorter, there are only 2.2 percent of american's that are over 6-4. Now how many people do you think can run a 4.4?????????????? Not very many.

http://investing.calsci.com/statistics.html

or 2.1 million people in the US are 6-4 - 6-7, now consider for a moment how many of those 2.1 million people have the genes to run a 4.4, considering how tall they are and the fact that most short people can't run a 4.4 or lower...It's a rare combination of size and speed.

You officially take the prize. This has to be the dumbest fuging arguement and point I have ever seen anyone make on any message board....and yes, that even includes the AFMB.

Good stuff but I did say

in the world
for one thing and also said that I thought it was uncommon but whatever, rare or uncommon what does it matter at this point. There plenty of track stars in the world even at all levels that fit this criteria but dont play football because they simply werent exposed to it or didnt want to play it.

You officially take the prize.

sweeeeet, I'll taaaake . . . whats IN DE BOX!

And Hatter is right, this is a ridiculous argument at this point. I was enjoying myself and having fun, then some semantics NAZI turns it into this huge deal and flips me off. . then starts with insults.

I agree I have been selfish in taking up this much space on this forum in someone elses thread to have fun. For that, I do apologize.

Congratulaions are extended to the Panthers for doing the right thing by not cutting David Gettis.

In my opinion,it was a very wise decision to retain a WR that is tall, has good speed, good hands and can return kickoffs and do special team work,if needed.

Given a little time i feel he will be a player that we will look back on and say "WOW",selecting Gettis in the 5th rd was really a steal.

With his size/speed combination he has the potential, but sometimes that potential is never realized.

It's very rare for a WR to have a good rookie season only because there is so much for them to learn. When you add that he was a low-round draft pick, it becomes even more rare.

.

yea man. potential is the key word

i think a few of you guys are putting a little too much into his height/weight combo

honestly he didnt live up to his potential in college. he was a high school all american (i still remember the shock when he chose the Baylor hat during the NBC broadcast). i expected him to be more of a household name by the end of his career. it never happened b/c he was still raw. he was basically a track guy playing football (chose Baylor b/c of their track program).

and whoever compared him to Vincent Jackson is crazy. they arent even the same type of player

true. this is bordering on a pipe dream.

i seriously doubt that he will be active on game day very much.

and people saying that he's reliable? what in the world has he (or any WR not named smith) done to show that they are? and, no, i don't think that preseason counts.
