REPORT: Panthers like Mykel Williams

Walker is only a project in your head

I try my best to avoid doing that--but it is hard to do.  I had someone tell me the other day--you have predicted the panthers to take about every player...He was exaggerating, probably because he thinks I am awesome, but your mind really should be fluid at this time.  I doubt the person we think the Panthers might take in March is our opinion in late April.

I just wish these guys would quit trying to guess the guy that surprises the most. It's like if you pick a stock. Pick after pick that goes up 50% is better than one out of three that goes up a 100%. This is typical of most cultures, they want the extra points for "outthinking" their peers.

Exactly. We've been blowing draft after draft after draft and that shows up in a glaring way when you look at our roster. Just find players. If they turn out to be All Pros, great. But you have to find contributing players in the draft year after year or you're fuged.

Garbage teams that blow rounds 1 and/or 2 stay garbage teams. Those 2 spots are the lifeblood of the org.

Maybe a game breaking play once in a while you don't get from just any safety, but that's not happening consistently enough to warrant that much of a boost in his stock.   I just don't see the "it" that others do outside his insane highlight reel 2023 season.  Barron has shaped up to be my CB1 ahead of Johnson.  I haven't heard much on his front related to us, but I personally like the fit.  Can support our base and sub packages.  Both of them have nice skills and would instantly be out there for a very high snap count.  The other guy after being under the microscope that isn't far behind is Amos.  But then I think there's a tad of a tier drop to Morrison/Hairston/Porter/etc. Emmanwori is in the eye of the beholder.  For us, I'm not so sure he's playing 2-high, he's a big nickel in our sub packages.  As a player, I see him as a Tampa-2 LB, Dimebacker-type.   But we had a similar type in Chinn who we didn't seem to care for with Evero so it makes me wonder a bit...  Some interesting DBs overall.
