my first thoughts are that it will be someone who is able to help on STs, esp. after losing wright. it will either be a returner or a gunner.

i do think there are some interesting options out there that could do well as a receiver. victor cruz with the giants is leading the NFL so far in yardage, TDs, plays over 20 yards and 1st downs. he's also 2nd in receptions behind jordan shipley. cruz might be headed for the practice squad....seriously. they don't need him and he's competing with ramses barden for a spot on the 53 man roster.

zona has a couple decent options as well. max komar and andre roberts. komar has done pretty well and andre roberts (from the citadel) is a very good punt return prospect. both of them are fighting for the 5th receiver spot. onrea jones is also someone that has looked good. now andre roberts is a 3rd round pick so he might be pretty safe but they really don't have room for komar and/ or jones.

any one of those guys could be better than what we are looking at for the 5th or 6th receiver spot.

as a punt returner, brandon banks for the redskins might be hitting the WW as well. he's an interesting possibility that has a good bit of potential. he had one return that ended up being a 77 yard TD but he's also had two fumbles.

I think Crayton will cost the cowboys 2 million so he may be on the bubble in Dallas but that would not address our punt returns

He's injured it twice now. I don't think it's incredibly serious, but I think he was on the bubble anyway.

I'd love to keep him here, as I think he's got the potential, but we've got to many other guys that you could say the same for.

Jarrett's in the last year of his contract, and I feel pretty confident the Panthers won't be resigning him.

So if we go with Smith, LaFell, and then pick up another receiver who (I'm assuming) is a better option than Jarrett, then that will leave the remaining receivers with very little targets. Why keep Jarrett in that role if we've got some other guys (Moore, Edwards, Gettis, etc.) that may have more of a future than Jarrett?

Yep Jarrett and Moore are as good as gone. Gettis may even hit the PS but Im not sure right now. We really need a guy that can play right now and let LaFell develop more.
