Today's office debate: Best movie soundtrack ever?

Without the John Williams symphonic music to give viewers something familiar to latch on to, Star Wars would have been a colossal failure. His earler Jaws soundtrack made the shark scarier than it would have been otherwise, but definitely Star Wars is the epitome of what a good music backdrop can do for a movie.

I'm over the manipulative pop music montage crap.

"The Battle of Evermore" – The Lovemongers (Heart)

Are we talking about movie soundtracks that are full of great songs or movie soundtracks that made the movie?

If it is the latter then you gotta go with "O Brother Where Art Thou".

If it is the former then..........that is pretty much up for debate. I do remember every person in the world owning two copies of the "Top Gun" soundtrack although it is kinda corny now.
