Crunching some numbers here...

Recommended Posts

Wasting time by looking at a few stats to make myself feel better....and to find something to do whilst drinking a beer and the wife tries to catch some sleep.

So....lets combine tackles for loss, sacks, lost fumbles, and interceptions so far.

That'll be 34 TFL, 18 sacks, 6 lost fumbles, and 2 INT's combining for 59 plays that ended in either lost yardage or a turnover through three games. I took away one of the fumbles as it happened on a sack. Can't count the same play twice. Although I did not factor in turnovers on special teams...oh well.

Now, let's compare that to the passing and rushing attempts of the opposing offenses. Grand total, there have been 157 attempts against the Panther defense this preseason.

So...let's do a little division here....carry the one....

That would be 1 out of every 2.66 plays...eh, let's round that down to 2.5 and say 2 out of every 5 attempts against the defense have ended in either lost yardage or a turnover.

Did the same math for our offense and came up with 1 out of every 4 attempts losing yards or possession.

And thus concludes our useless trek through the world of NFL stats.
