Smith not too impressed with Panthers’ receivers

Smitty needs to remember this....IT TOOK HIM 2 YEARS TO DEVELOP INTO A VIABLE WR OPTION.

Steve came into the league as a return man first and foremost and wasn't allowed to work out with the wide receivers his first year in the NFL.

While his second year he had nearly 900 yards despite being on a poor offensive team.

Smitty is just thinking...damn, here comes another season full of triple-teams.

Seriously, the guy said it this off-season, he wants to see someone come in who will inherit the #1 WR spot from him someday, at least look like they want it. His demeanor is so intimidating though, I imagine he humbles even the brashest of rookies. The perfect scenario - a WR who presses him for knowledge and counseling, but also challenges him on the field.

There is talent at receiver on this team.

Fact is its a bunch of young, raw talent.

As others have stated, steve isn't going to ask them to listen. They have got to be want to be the best. They have to want to improve. They have to go to smith, with showing the desire....smith isn't going to turn them away...just as he's not going to ask them to come to him.

Also doesn't help the he hasn't been able to practice with them and the team.
