High school stars

Just thought that it was intresting that we have quite a few highly touted high school stars on our roster that didn't live up to expectations in college. I am including Matt Moore, David Gettis, Derek Landri, and Charles Johnson(didn't exactly light it up at UGA). If I am not mistaken were all top 10 at their postion coming out of HS, with Landri being rated as high as the #2 DT in the nation by some.

making the transition from high school to college is almost as abrupt as adjusting from college to the nfl.

Exactly, a lot of these top guys fall off the map forever, for whatever reason. Most five star guys think they are entitled and therefore some do not have the work ethic to make it. But then again there are guys like Harvin and Spiller who are highly touted that play well in college and get drafted first round. I just hope that our guys will be able to show that flash that had them on the national scene as 18 year old kids and play big for us this year.

Toney Baker is an example of this. Ranked #5 in running backs in 2005 (Jonathan Stewart was #1) Local high school star, #1 all time in high school rushing yards. Goes to college, blows out his knees multiple times, can't stay healthy, goes undrafted this year and gets picked up by Denver, already cut.

For what its worth Jimmy Clausen was #1 overall in 2007 coming out of HS.
