Need a good starter camp site(s) to introduce my kids too.

I got a lot of gear I got about 2 yrs ago that I have yet to use and my kids are due for some good camping.

But I don't want to go to extreme so any ideas on some good starter places? Maybe some good drive from Charlotte and overnight stay somewhere.

Stayed at a KOA campground in Cherokee about a month ago. It was pretty cool.

Hanging Rock isnt bad about hour a half to 2 hours from Charlotte. It is a state park so you dont have to worry about people drinking and it is some easy hikes. Also has great views and waterfall.

Never been to Hanging Rock myself, but everyone around here goes there and seems to enjoy themselves.

i think anywhere that doesn't have a long trek in would be fine. I would probably wait until it gets a little colder so all the mosquitos are gone.

I never minded cold weather camping as a kid. I would just curl into a little ball at the bottom of my sleeping bag.

Kings Mtn. State park is an hour away and $16/nite...trails, paddle boats, Kings Mountain battlefield history center.....

Murrow Mountain is pretty nice. Went there Oct. of last year and it was nice. It was packed actually, but everyone was nice and I didn't see people acting fools or anything. Lots of kids were there too.
