What you all have ignored is those who are not guilty or those who are lumped together with the monsters you detest.

Another big problem is the "sexual predator" system where everyone automatically assumes that anyone on the list has abused children when that is not necessarily true.

And no matter the crime, the punishment is prescribed by the courts and not the inmates or even the jailors who not only protect society from the criminals, but protect the criminals from harm as well. If you condone the unjust treatment any inmate receives, no matter the crime, you open Pandoras box.

When the line between justice and injustice becomes skewed and blurred the innocent will suffer the most. Remember that when you shrug off these crimes even when they seem justified.

It's all a bunch of blurry legal lines that you HOPE produces proper punishment for anyone who harms a child, and that justice is meted out in degrees of how much harm was done, but that's almost impossible. Especially with 50 different sets of rules.

They didn't go into what the guy in this article did. I would hope it was really bad considering the price he paid for it.

I'd also like to point out that a lot of cases get pleaded out, and many times the defendant is not necessarily as guilty as the plea makes them look. Sometimes its better to get it over with instead of sitting in jail waiting for your trial.

Society is not the result of a broken justice system; the broken justice system is a result of society.

If he did physical or mental harm to children then no, I don't necessarily feel sorry for him. But to give the other monsters in there carte blanche doesn't seem right, either. The newest Playboy has an interview with Peewee Herman. He says they tried to nail him on child porn and almost got away with it. Said the stuff they used as evidence was laughable.

We're dealing with two things here that society doesn't want to talk about....sexual deviants and prison. Espn.com had a story leading off the other day (I think it was espn) about a 24-year old guy begging for a chance to play in the NFL but no team will give him a shot. His crime? He banged his 15-year old cousin when he was 16, and now has that "sexual predator" label on him for life. Black guy who was victimized by other family members growing up.

I'm probably going to get crucified on here, but I don't think that child pornography is as bad as full on child abuse. (Yes you are abusing a child, but not beating or doing physical harm to a child.) I think that anyone who beats or has intercourse with a child is far worse.

Do I think what he did was reprehensible, yes, does he deserve to be beaten, especially by the guards, no. Rape happens in alot of prisons. The lower you are on the totem pole, the more chance you have of being someone B****. I had a deputy sheriff here in Charlotte tell me one time that dugs were so plentiful in jail , that if you aren't an addict going in, you most likely be by the time you get out!

I had a professor one time, I think it was when I was going to Clemson. He had to register as a sex offender because he married a 17 yo. (She was a student of his, but according to him, they didn't start to date until after the class was over.) Because she was under 18, he had to register, even though they were married. It was a wonder that he didn't get fired from his teaching job. He also added, that thanks to his state Representative, the law got changed and he came off the list.

I hate people like this guy, but come on, this shouldn't be happening. What kind of hypocrites are we if we allow the "morally superior" (guards/prison officials) to treat inmates like this? If the inmates want to give this guy their own "form" of punishment, well, that's their deal, but the guards should be held accountable.

People made a few good points. A lot of times people take plea deals when they may not be guilty. A lot of times people register cause of stupid reasons. AND, not all the time people are guilty. I slightly think a child porn guy is less worse than someone that acted on their feelings. It IS child abuse though. People may like "rape/torture" porn but that doesn't mean they'll go out and do the same thing. I'm not defending this scum in anyway, just throwing another view out there.
