What char said, only I'd take it a step further.

What most of you are mentioning are rather quick but horrific ways to exit.

Stories I read about prisoners of the Japanese during WWII, slowly over years starving to death, or coming down with some disease caused by malnutrition, but still being beaten, kicked and forced to work for your enemy sounds awful. Always with the ever present fear of the unknown quick violence hanging over your head.

Honestly, the stories of the survivors envying in some cases the dead tells me that years of starvation and suffering in a POW camp and then death just as my liberators broke thru the gates would be my nightmare.
