Being ranked #1 in Total Defense in preseason can be a harbinger of good things

Historical preseason stats are a bitch to find, but Baltimore and Minnesota were the top 2 defenses in terms of total yards last preseason. Baltimore went on to finish 3rd in Total Defense in the regular season and Minnesota finished 6th.

I think just finishing the regular season with a Top 10 defense would be a huge victory for this team and a great surprise. Hope it happens.

the mark of a good coordinator is the ability to always maintain or improve defensive performance overall even after an exodus of talent (even though i don't think some of the players we dropped were that talented anyway).

this is by no means an endorsement for Meeks as a head coach

I just listened to Jeff Fisher's post game press interview....he gave no credit to our defense at all. When asked about their lack of offense production he says they didn't game plan and we had a lot of blitz packages that they could have done something about, yada, yada, yada. I thought normally in the 3rd preseason game there was normally a small bit of planning done to see your team in as close to regular season mode as you can get in preseason. I believe most teams do game planning some in the 3rd game unless you lose and then you just say you didn't game plan to the press to get them off your back.
