Trent Guy and Mike Goodson

I like Mike Goodson as a KR guy but Guy has done nothing to cement his job on PR in my eyes, other than catching all his punts. He has 4 PR for 5 yards and an average of 1.3yd/return. Thats not exactly locking down the job. AE for instance has 5 PR for 28 yards and a 5.6yd/return average. So far the winner is Munnerlyn in limited action with 3pr 37yds and a 12.3 yd/return average.

Goodson has the skills. That's why he was drafted.

So many ended up giving up on him after a few fumbles.

Yes, fumbles for a RB are the worse, but it is also correctable.

His speed, his hands, his ability, cannot be taught.

Which is why all the talk during the off-season that he shouldn't even be on the team, was laughable.

Is nice to see the masses beginning to come around again.

Trent Guy showed speed and ability, which is why Steve Smith likes the guy.

I don't know if I've seen enough for him to be the hands down winner of the PR position, but it wouldn't break my heart either if he started the season there, if the coaches find a way to keep this kid through cuts.

How is college ball irrelevant when that is what paves the way to the NFL ? A lot of these players are the same guys he was running balls back against when he was in college . And if you guys think that a guy should get a position just because of one good return that was partly luck , y'all don't know a whole lot about football . And trust me they're not gonna put Goodson back there .

You guys honestly think that just because Goods ran back one kick return that he should get the job ? Not taking anything away from him he's a great player but a lot of that return was luck . He ran into a pile , wasn't tackled , everyone converged on the pile up and he went around . The field was wide open then . Trent is clearly the man for the job , have any of you even seen him play college ball ? He had 917 yards in just kick returns last year and broke 3 records in punt and kick returns at Louisville . The two punts that he misjudged may not have even been his fault they do have a punt and kick return coach that tell you where to line up because they are supposed to know the depth of the kicker so if they told him wrong , It' s not entirely on him . The Panthers will do bad not to pick Trent up cause they really need him .

First off, yes there is a coach that gives him a general idea of where to stand based on average punt/KO depth based on the kicker, however, it's not like he puts a blindfold on at that point. He HAS to make adjustments to the ball in the air, any bad judgments on kicks at that point is ENTIRELY the returners fault. The coach can only tell him where to stand, he can't catch the ball for him. Remember, they base his position on average, a kicker does not kick a set distance, an average is a total/amount there are extremes and its the returners job to field the extremes in distance as well as the average.

Second, If you don't believe that there is a huge turnover from college to the pros and that success in college automatically equates to success in the pros then it is you who does not know a whole lot about football. Watching a player play in college, especially outside of a top tier conference basically only gives you an eye for pure athletic talent, not their ability to apply it. Athletic talent will win out against inferior competition at a lower level, but that rule does not apply at the top. There are many examples of this phenomenon so I won't waste mine or your time listing them, if you can't think of one yourself, refer to the "lack of football knowledge" statement.

@Rayzor It doesn't have anything to do with him being local and obviously most of you have never seen him play and you're just going off of this one game . That goes to show a lot of you really don't know anything about football and are going off first impressions . Trent is a Damn good punt and kick return man and if Goodson was the one he'd been back there before now . If the Panthers don't keep him somebody will pick him up and I promise you the Panthers will be sick later.

@Floppin have you ever played punt return ? I bet not , yes most of the responsibility falls on the returner but if the coaches calculation is off it does make a huge difference , I played punt return I know . If it was that much on the player what would you need a punt return coach for ? And you right you don't have to waste your time telling Mr nothing because you probably didn't know and now days you can Google anything and it can make you look like you invented the game . So rather I know about football or not you wouldn't know so your last comment doesn't mean anything .

You don't need a space before commas, periods or other punctuation marks.
